A little kindness can make a bigger difference than you might think.

A Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) is a simple, unexpected way to show someone you care, with nothing expected in return. And kindness doesn't just brighten someone else's day. It can be good for your mental well-being, too.

Acts of kindness can create positive emotions, strengthen social connections and may help reduce stress and anxiety. Even something as simple as smiling at someone can make a difference!

Looking for a way to spread a little kindness today? Try:
• Giving someone a genuine compliment
• Picking up litter in your neighborhood
• Helping a neighbor with a chore
• Paying for the coffee of the person behind you
• Donating books you no longer need
• Simply smiling and saying hello

Kindness is free, happiness can be contagious and even the smallest gesture can have an impact. What Random Act of Kindness will you try today?

We recently welcomed Rep. Jeff Backer, who serves as co-chair of the Health Finance and Policy Committee, to CentraCare – Redwood. Thank you to Rep. Backer for visiting us to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing rural healthcare. We appreciate his commitment to learning more about the needs of critical access hospitals and rural health clinics.

Thank you also to Michelle Benson, senior policy director for the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) and Jodi Gertken, CentraCare government affairs program director, for helping coordinate the visit, as well as other CentraCare leaders and team members for sharing how they serve patients and communities across the region.

While summer typically brings a break from the colds and flu that are more common during the winter months, it can also bring an increase in stomach bugs among children.

Some of the most common causes include norovirus, rotavirus and foodborne illness. While these illnesses can cause similar symptoms, there are some important differences to know. Learn more: https://www.centracare.com/articles-stories/summer-stomach-bugs/

Congratulations to our CentraCare Heart and Vascular teams on their recent recognition by U.S. News & World Report!

When it comes to your heart, where you receive care matters.

We're honored that CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital has been named the No. 2 program in Minnesota for Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026-2027 rankings, second only to Mayo Clinic.

Behind this recognition are the people who matter most: our patients who trust us during some of life's most difficult moments, and the physicians, nurses and care teams who show up every day with skill, compassion and dedication.

"This honor is meaningful, but it's also a reflection of what our team strives for every day," said Stephen Kidd, MD, Interventional Cardiologist. "We participate in cutting-edge clinical research, employ renowned experts across cardiovascular medicine and have some of the best nursing care anywhere. We're proud to bring world-class heart care to the people of Central Minnesota."

These latest rankings also recognized St. Cloud Hospital as High Performing in 15 procedures and conditions and are based on patient outcomes and patient experience, making this recognition especially meaningful.

To every patient and family who has trusted us with your heart, thank you. It is a privilege to care for our community.
