Congratulations! 🎉 You have a beautiful new baby with 10 fingers and toes and who has been given a clean bill of health. 💚

But here’s the thing: a healthy baby can still benefit from having their nervous system and body checked by a chiropractor who is specifically trained in infant care.

Birth is a BIG event for a tiny body. Whether it was a vaginal birth, C-section, induction, vacuum/forceps-assisted, long or fast labor, your baby’s body and nervous system had to adapt to a lot.

A pediatric chiropractor looks beyond whether something is “wrong” and looks at how well your baby is functioning and adapting.

Things like:
👶 difficulty latching or feeding
👶 favoring one side
👶 tension or stiffness
👶 trouble settling or sleeping
👶 frequent spit-up or digestive challenges
👶 head preference or developing flat spots
👶 difficulty with tummy time

And sometimes…there are NO obvious signs at all.

That’s why an infant chiropractic evaluation isn’t about waiting until something is wrong. It’s about establishing a baseline and supporting healthy nervous system function from the very beginning.

A C-section may involve significant pulling and pressure as baby is delivered, without the natural compression and molding that occurs during a vaginal birth. These factors can contribute to tension and imbalances that may affect how baby’s body moves and functions.

At Coastal Family Chiropractic, we use gentle, age-appropriate techniques to assess and support babies after birth—especially those born via C-section.

Are baby containers helping... or holding your baby back? 👶

Swings, bouncers, seats, and activity centers can be helpful in moderation—but too much time in "containers" can limit the movement babies need to develop.

Babies learn by moving:
💚 Building core strength
💚 Exploring their environment
💚 Developing balance and coordination
💚 Learning to roll, crawl, and reach

The more time babies spend on the floor with opportunities for free movement, the better their nervous system and motor skills can develop.

Containers have their place—but they shouldn't replace tummy time, play, and exploration.

Floor time is brain-building time.💚

Did you ever wonder what makes that sound during some chiropractic adjustments? Every joint in your body has joint fluid for lubrication. This fluid has dissolved gases, and adjustments change the pressure inside joint capsules, causing these gases to come out of solution. You've seen this happen when you open a bottle of soda - the bubbles rise to the top. It's important to note that we never use these techniques on babies!! When we adjust little ones, we use the amount of pressure you would use to see if a peach is ripe!
