What can change in 7 days? More than you think.

For George, seven days became the start of a completely different life.

His story is a reminder that change doesn’t always begin with some huge moment. Sometimes it starts with making it through today, then tomorrow, then the next day.

Seven days can feel small. But seven days can change everything.

Medetomidine, a powerful veterinary sedative, has been detected in the illicit fentanyl supply, creating additional risks for people who use drugs.

Exposure can cause severe sedation, slowed heart rate and dangerously low blood pressure. Naloxone cannot reverse the effects of medetomidine, but it should still be administered when an opioid overdose is suspected. Always call 911 immediately.

Awareness can save lives. Learn more about the risks, warning signs and what to do if exposure is suspected.

This weekend, PAATC and Naaman Network were grateful to be part of an overdose awareness event in Northeast Philadelphia. Loretta M., our Kensington Supervisor, joined community members, local organizations, and families for a day centered on remembrance, awareness, and connection.

Being present in the communities we serve matters. Recovery is strengthened when people know support is nearby and that they do not have to walk through addiction alone. 💜

September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength of those in recovery and recognize that healing is possible.

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. With the right treatment, support and community, people can rebuild their lives and move toward a healthier future.

This month, Naaman is honoring every person taking steps toward recovery, the loved ones walking beside them and the professionals committed to helping them heal.

If you or someone you love needs support, hope is here. Learn more at naaman.org.

It can be tough to tell if someone’s having an opioid overdose. If you’re not sure, just treat it like they are — your actions could seriously save a life.
1️⃣ Call 911.
2️⃣ Give the person naloxone, if available.
3️⃣ Try to keep the person awake and breathing.
4️⃣ Lay the person on their side to prevent choking.
5️⃣ Stay with the person until emergency help arrives.

Is Medication-Assisted Treatment really just replacing one addiction with another?

It is one of the most common misconceptions about MAT, but dependence and addiction are not the same. When used as prescribed, MAT can reduce cravings, manage withdrawal symptoms, and help people build the stability needed for lasting recovery.

Learn how MAT works and why medication does not make someone’s recovery any less valid.

Basic first aid becomes monumental in an emergency. Just like cardiac arrest or a choking incident, overdoses can happen without warning. Being prepared, by knowing CPR or carrying Narcan, means you can respond in an instant.
