The Lotus Award recognizes clinical non-RN/LPN team members who provide extraordinary care with compassion, skill, and heart. Like the lotus flower that rises and blooms beautifully, this award honors those who uplift others through their dedication and actions.

This month, we are proud to recognize Makayla Witt for her outstanding commitment to patient care.

Makayla was nominated by a colleague who had the opportunity to work alongside her and witnessed firsthand the incredible impact she makes on our patients and team. Throughout her shifts, Makayla consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, endless energy, and a genuine smile.

She focuses on providing comfort, encouragement, and compassionate care to every patient she encounters. From assisting with baths and bed changes to helping with meals and daily care needs, Makayla goes above and beyond to ensure patients feel cared for and supported. Her dedication was especially evident when she provided an impressive 14 baths in a single day, reflecting her strong commitment to serving others with excellence.

What stood out most to her nominator was Makayla’s unwavering kindness, compassion, and positive spirit. She approaches every patient interaction with warmth and encouragement, creating meaningful experiences for those in her care.

🌻 Last Friday, we had the honor of recognizing Pam Beveridge as a recipient of the Cone Health Sunflower Award!

Established in 2023, the Cone Health Sunflower Award honors excellence in patient care and compassion by recognizing administrative healthcare professionals who go above and beyond to brighten the lives of patients through kindness, empathy, and service.

Pam has been part of the Annie Penn family for over 30 years, and her impact continues to shine through every patient interaction. 💛

In her nomination, a patient shared how Pam’s calming spirit, patience, and thoughtful explanations made a difficult health scare feel less overwhelming. From carefully explaining paperwork to answering questions with kindness and compassion, Pam made a lasting difference during a stressful time.

“Overall, I just appreciated her kind, compassionate, and helpful spirit, and want to make sure she gets recognized for her outstanding care. Health scares are difficult, and people like Pam make a difference.”

Last Tuesday, the Annie Penn Leadership Team had the pleasure of attending the Annual Auxiliary & Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. It was a wonderful event celebrating an incredible group of individuals who give so much of their time, compassion, and dedication to our hospital and community. 💙

Our volunteers play such an important role at Annie Penn Hospital each and every day. From welcoming and assisting guests, supporting our Cancer Center patients and families, delivering mail throughout the hospital, and serving in the gift shop, their kindness and willingness to help make a lasting impact on everyone who walks through our doors.

The Annie Penn Auxiliary continues to give back in countless ways supporting hospital programs, patient care initiatives, scholarships, and community outreach efforts that help strengthen the health and well-being of our region. Their generosity and commitment truly make a difference.

As we wrap up Nurses Week and celebrate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the incredible nursing staff at Annie Penn Hospital for the compassion, dedication, and excellence they bring every single day. 💙

This week was filled with appreciation and celebration for our amazing nurses! Highlights included:

🎁 Nurses Week Gifts
This year’s Nurses Week gift was a crossbody sling bag for all nursing staff as a small token of appreciation for all they do.

🍪 Campus Rounding & Cookie Train
Amadi Lewis and Nicole Ivery-Royal joined Dr. Vi-Anne Antrum and leadership in rounding across campuses and MedCenters. Our Annie Penn team enjoyed sweet treats from the cookie train during leadership rounding visits!

🧁 Cupcake Day
We celebrated our teams with cupcakes delivered throughout the hospital to thank staff for their hard work and commitment.

🍋 Mobile Mocktail Bar
Team members stopped by to enjoy refreshing fruit-infused teas and lemonades during our Mobile Mocktail Bar celebration.
