A glimpse into how my day is ending, and a feeling every animal owner knows by heart.

Emergencies don’t pause the rest of life. The world doesn’t stop turning just because your heart is heavy or your body is exhausted.

Tonight is another late end to a long day. After starting early with chores and caring for a couple of rehab horses, then attending a memorial for a loved family member, it was straight back to the daily responsibilities: stacking hay, a recovery treatment for Ally, and preparing to step into the classroom to teach first thing in the morning.

Every day we have choices. We choose to show up. We take action. We keep going, because the ones who depend on us need us to.

Even through the grief, the fatigue, and the endless to-do list, I make a conscious decision to end every day with a smile and a grateful heart. 🤍

Behind the scenes of how today ended. This isn’t posted for the algorithm, just the reality of my life.

My day began at 7a, and I finally stepped inside after midnight. It started with chores, a morning Vet appointment for one of my rehab horses, the first of two separate wound care sessions, and a round-trip run to Reno packed in between, while returning as many phone calls as I could while I was on the road.

When you run a business and care for animals, emergencies don’t wait for business hours, and I will never put a boundary on the care I provide. 🤍

There are moments in this journey that completely stop you in your tracks, and this video is one of them. Seeing myself through the eyes of one of my previous students and reading the words she put together, touched me deeper than I can easily put into words.

It is hard to express just how deeply I care about this work. Teaching isn’t just a title to me, and therapy isn’t just a service; it’s a standard. Every single time a horse or animal is entrusted to my care, I feel the weight and the honor of that responsibility. I care immensely about setting an example, and about showing what true professionalism, integrity, and dedication look like in our industry, while also exemplifying that true success can be achieved.

Raising the bar isn’t easy. Navigating the constant pressure of wearing all the hats as a practitioner serving clients, an instructor guiding students, and a business owner always striving to push our field forward can be exhausting. You constantly carry the weight of wanting to get it right for the animals, the owners, and the next generation of therapists coming up behind you. However, moments like this make every single ounce of pressure worth it.

I know I can’t change the entire world, but I CAN change the world for the animals in front of me and positively impact the lives of the people I am blessed to teach and work alongside. To know that the care, standard, and heart I pour into this industry are truly felt…there is no greater reward.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for those of you who have trusted me, learned with me, and walk this path beside me. ❤️

It’s almost midnight, and I’m still at the barn finishing up sessions before these horses head out to a show first thing in the morning. I’ve been teaching since 9am, but this quiet stretch of night after class settles is always special to me. It’s a time to connect, focus on each horse without the rush of the day, and reflect.

My students in the ATS course saw a raw, authentic moment from me today when I was working through concern for a client’s horse back home. Reflecting on it tonight, I know exactly where those emotions came from, which is that I care deeply about every single animal entrusted to my care. That care is the driving force behind every long day, every late night, and every mile traveled.

Almost 25 years into this career, I can honestly say I never get tired of striving to make a positive difference. I feel deeply honored every time I step beside a horse, enter a barn where my specialty is trusted, and stand in front of a class to pass along knowledge to the next generation of dedicated therapists.

Tomorrow marks the start of another ATS Equine Acuscope/Myopulse Certification Course, hosted by Hayden Upton Equine Services in Weatherford, Texas!

I want to extend my gratitude to Hayden and Summa for their hospitality, and for providing elite equine athletes for my students to learn on. Life is short, but we have the opportunity to build something truly meaningful if we stay focused on what actually matters and lead with kindness.

I came across this quote recently that can benefit our world if we let it lead us:

“If the words you spoke appeared on your skin, would you still be beautiful?”

It’s so easy to get caught up in the noise, be distracted by constant negativity, or measure our behind-the-scenes life to everyone else’s highlight reel. However, someone else’s choices or success isn't your benchmark. You have the power to build a life on your own terms, anchored in your own values and vision.

For me, that comes down to 3 primary principles:

✨ Kindness. Make it your default. How you treat the world around you is what ultimately lasts.

✨ Pure Intention. WHY you do something matters just as much as what you do. Your WHY matched with good intentions will lead you down the right path.

✨ Drive & Determination. Pursuing your goals in the time you’ve been given is a privilege. Time is a gift, don't waste it by limiting yourself and your capabilities.

Tune out the comparisons. Nothing will compare to who YOU are. Everyone has their own light, and it should always be allowed to SHINE. The only real comparison you should have is who you were yesterday.

Focus on your intention, show up with a good heart, and build a life that actually matters to YOU.
