Another happy/sad moment in the transition to the new studio space at Hilltown Commons…
Moving the physio balls out of Conkling Hall, where I am grateful to have taught for the last twenty years.

We are excited about our excellent new space - stay tuned for more info coming soon - but will always have a place in our hearts for our beautiful community center, and hope to hold events at the Hall from time to time.

Please come lend a hand at Conkling Hall’s volunteer day this Saturday, June 1, 9-1. 🤲

Foothills Yogāyurveda is in a chrysalis stage - we are transforming! While in our productive cocoon stage, we’ve been learning things like how to make a business plan, create a budget, imagine a mission and envision a logo, lay a floor and paint the walls - all while remaining dedicated to our daily practices and true to our hearts.
We’ve consulted a lawyer, an accountant, a business guru, the stars and our dreams, the ancient teachings, our inner compasses, and tuned into Mother Earth and Father Time.
The transformation will be a beautiful thing - a new studio space, expanded offerings… a place for us to grow and for you to grow along side us.
Stay tuned for more soon, including our new name and schedule with seven group classes weekly, and more in the works!

Emerging out of Cleanse week with two biome-enhancing canine pals 🐶❤️🐶

Thank you to all who participated in our Annual Spring Cleanse, and the curiosity, open minds and hearts that were present during this immersive experience. We went deep into the - what it is, how to support it, and how it’s vital to our well-being - and discovered that, on a very basic, fundamental level, we are not only what we eat but the environments we inhabit. If you’d like to learn more, we’ll have our Microbiome Info Session available for viewing soon. Two big takeaways: eat a diverse array of vegetables and incorporate fermented foods, and breathe as many different biomes as possible! That’s right- your nature walk is good for your internal biome!

These Cleanses have become such a central aspect to our yearly offerings, helping participants to transition from one season to the next with ease and mindfulness. We were greatly inspired by this seasons topic and look forward to more microbiome, fermentation, and skin health workshops in the future.

May your Spring be infused with hope, lightness, good health, and a happy gut.

Modern medicine is beginning to understand what Ayurveda has known for millennia: ✨ What you eat matters. ✨ A lot.

The science behind this is related to the microbiome, which inhabits the skin, mouth, nose, lungs, ge****ls, and most importantly, the large intestine.

During this Spring Cleanse, we will explore how Ayurvedic wisdom is being supported by modern scientific findings, and how we can eat to stimulate the health of our microbiome. The gut biota is vital not just for digestion and metabolism, but also immune, neurologic, and endocrine function.

During this Cleanse, we’ll talk about how to cultivate a healthy microbiome with food and activities encouraged in Ayurveda. We’ll also get energy moving around the body in a new way with tapping, which is a great way to release inertia and heaviness, qualities of kapha that tend to predominate in late winter and early spring.

If the mind is a “recording and playback machine”—like a computer, and its “programs,” by way of memories and patterns, keep repeating themselves, imagine how powerful it could be to change our moods and feelings at will.

During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the practice of Tapping. EFT Tapping, or Energy Freedom Technique, is an alternative therapy that has increasing evidence for reducing stress, anxiety, pain, and depression by stimulating specific physical points on the face and hands. Through the mechanical stimulation of these points, which correlate to marma points in Ayurveda and meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practice seeks to unblock and rebalance energy for positive psychological and physical effects.

This workshop will be led by longtime practitioner of Tapping, Nancy Dyer.

Six week yoga philosophy course begins Monday, February 12, 10 am on Zoom.
We will study the Five Bodies model in the Taittirya Upanishad, a wonderful way to understand the various aspects of ourselves. Class will include textual study, chanting, conversation about personal application, and even a little drawing 😌
