Every single one of us is looking for a specific outcome in some area in our lives.
Maybe it's a physical goal like losing 30 pounds, getting stronger, or toning up.
Maybe it's discipline related like waking up earlier, drinking less soda/energy drinks, or reading more.
Our general issue is that as we approach our goals, we attempt to become completely different people virtually overnight.
Speaking from our own experiences, life overhauls rarely last longer than a few months.
The person who decides they're waking up at 5:00 AM every day, cutting out sugar completely, working out six days a week, and reading a book a week usually burns out before the month is over.
If they so happen to make it "75" days (wink), it normally doesn't last the remainder of the year.
This has nothing to do with being physically or mentally week either.
The plan was just unrealistic despite the intent being pure and driven by some real motivation.
It's just that real change happens a lot differently than a full court press on your goals. There's a time and place for that drill, but for steady and consistent output and results, it starts way smaller and fundamental.
Wake up 15 minutes earlier twice a week, replace one soda a day with water., take a 10-minute walk after dinner, read two pages before bed.
Small enough that you can't talk yourself out of it yet consistent enough that it becomes part of who you are.
So many people overestimate what they can accomplish in a month and underestimate what they can accomplish in a year.
The gap between where you are and where you want to be is crossed through small decisions repeated over and over again.
What's one small change you're working on right now?
