Stephen, a Boston native, came to Lighthouse Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center after a fall at a grocery store resulted...

Stephen, a Boston native, came to Lighthouse Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center after a fall at a grocery store resulted in a fractured ankle. Since he lives alone and has a full flight of stairs to enter his home, his care team at MGH recommended short-term rehabilitation before returning home.

Through Lighthouse’s orthopedic rehab program, Stephen is making steady progress. He is currently walking short distances with a rolling walker, navigating three stairs with the support of a handrail, and continuing to work with PT and OT to build strength, improve ambulation, and prepare for safe community mobility.

We’re proud to support Stephen as he works toward his goal of returning home soon with greater strength, mobility, and confidence.

After knee replacement surgery and an unexpected fall at home, Sister Michelle came to Lighthouse Rehab in need of skilled support, intensive therapy, and a clear path forward.

Through Lighthouse’s program, Sister Michelle received coordinated orthopedic rehabilitation, individualized support, and physical and occupational therapy 7 days a week. She arrived needing supervision to sit up in bed, assistance with repositioning, and support as pain from her fractures limited her ability to walk.

Step by step, she rebuilt her strength, mobility, and confidence. Sister Michelle progressed from using a rolling walker and walking more than 150 feet to discharging home able to walk more than 250 feet and complete two full flights of stairs with just a cane.

Her friend Diane was thrilled to see her back on her feet and returning to the independence she knew so well.

Some moments remind us why we do what we do.

Paul, the President of our Resident Council at Lighthouse, recently asked for a few moments to share something that was close to his heart. After three years as a long-term care resident, he wanted to reflect on his experience and make sure others knew just how much he appreciates the leadership, compassion, and dedication of our Administrator, Peter.

Hearing those words from someone who has called Lighthouse home is a powerful reminder that exceptional care is built on trust, respect, and the people who make a difference every day.

Join us in celebrating Laila Echafi, Medical Records who has showcased how here at Lighthouse!

Laila was recognized by Business Office Manager, Derek DuBois with a Core Values card for her outstanding "Tag Team Action!" During a resident encounter, she stepped in to assist with the MassHealth process while helping overcome a language barrier, ensuring the resident received the support they needed.

Laila's dedication has also expanded our in-house language services to include Moroccan Arabic, joining the many languages spoken by our team to better serve our residents and families.

Laila’s hard work and dedication to taking care of our residents does not go unnoticed!
