I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the moment a baby takes their first breath.
The room changes.
The intensity that filled every contraction suddenly gives way to tears, laughter, relief, and the kind of joy that’s impossible to put into words. Parents meet the little person they’ve been dreaming about for months, and for just a moment, the rest of the world seems to disappear.
And somehow… I get to witness that.
Every time I walk into a birth, I remind myself that I’m stepping into one of the most sacred days in someone else’s life. It’s never “just another birth.” It’s their birth. Their story. Their first hello.
I leave every delivery humbled.
Not because I have all the answers, but because every family, every nurse, every provider, every doula, and every baby teaches me something new. Birth has a way of reminding you that strength doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like quiet determination. Sometimes it looks like surrender. Sometimes it looks like a partner whispering, “You’ve got this,” through tears.
I am endlessly grateful to the nurses and providers who welcome me into the birth space as part of the team. Watching everyone work together to support one family is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced.
To every family who has trusted me to stand beside you—thank you. You have allowed me a front-row seat to some of life’s most extraordinary moments, and I will never stop being honored by that.

If you’ve had someone who made a difference during your birth—a nurse, doctor, midwife, doula, partner, friend, or family member—tell me about them in the comments. I’d love to celebrate them with you. 🤍
