🏃‍♀️ Can exercise really wear out your joints?

It’s one of the most common questions we hear—and the answer may surprise you.

For most people, regular exercise actually protects your joints by strengthening muscles, nourishing cartilage, and improving mobility. The real risks usually come from doing too much, too soon, poor technique, or old injuries—not from staying active.

✅ Learn how to train smarter, recognize warning signs, and keep your joints healthy for years to come.

👟 300 miles… or just a myth?

Most runners have heard it’s time to replace their shoes at 300 miles—but the truth is more nuanced.

Your body often tells you it’s time before your mileage log does. New aches, flattened cushioning, uneven wear, or shoes that just don’t feel right can all be signs it’s time for a new pair.

Learn how to spot the real signs of worn-out running shoes—and help reduce your risk of injury while keeping every run comfortable.

🏃 Barefoot or running shoes—which is actually better?

The answer isn't as simple as you might think.

For years, runners have debated whether ditching their shoes leads to fewer injuries, stronger feet, and better performance. But what does the research really show?

In our latest article, we break down:
👟 Heel strike vs. forefoot strike
🦶 Why barefoot running changes where injuries happen—not whether they happen
📊 What decades of research actually say
✅ Which approach may be best for your body and running goals

Before you switch shoes (or throw them away), read what the science says.

⚡ Back pain shooting down your leg? Don’t ignore it.

That sharp, burning, or electric pain traveling from your lower back into your buttock or leg may be a sign of sciatica—often caused by irritation of a spinal nerve.

The good news? Most people improve with the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

🚩 Watch for:
• Pain radiating down the leg
• Numbness or tingling
• Weakness in the leg or foot

Don’t guess what’s causing it. Different conditions can feel surprisingly similar.

📖 Read our latest blog to learn the common causes, treatment options, and when it’s time to see a specialist.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Expensive ($6-10k) “stem cell” treatment for arthritis is fraudulent. Don’t fall for it.

Every week I explain to patients why they shouldn’t waste their money.

🏃‍♂️ Want to get back to sports faster?

Don’t focus on the calendar.

Focus on these 3 goals:

✔️ Strong
✔️ Stable
✔️ Pain-Free

Nobody talks about the “jar test.”

If opening a jar makes you instantly look for someone stronger nearby…

…your thumb may be trying to tell you something.

Not your wrist.

Not your fingers.

Your thumb.

The most common signs patients describe:

• Pain at the base of the thumb
• Weak pinch strength
• Trouble opening jars
• Pain turning keys
• Clicking or grinding sensations

Many people live with these symptoms for years before learning there’s a specific cause—and effective treatment options.

Your thumb does more work every day than almost any other joint in your body.

When it hurts, life gets surprisingly inconvenient.

Last week, a patient said to me, “I thought I was getting weaker.”

She had stopped opening jars, asked her husband to turn keys, and started avoiding certain kitchen tasks. She assumed it was just part of getting older.

It wasn’t weakness. It was arthritis at the base of the thumb.

Most people are surprised to learn that one small joint can make everyday activities—opening a jar, fastening jewelry, texting, turning a key, even buttoning a shirt—unexpectedly painful.

The problem often starts quietly:
✓ Pain at the base of the thumb
✓ Stiffness in the morning
✓ A weaker grip
✓ Clicking or grinding with movement

The good news? Many patients find significant relief with the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

If you’ve been avoiding certain tasks because your thumb hurts, don’t ignore it.
