A huge percentage of the population have stage 1 and 2 lipedema and don’t recognize it. That stubborn “cellulite” may actually be swollen uneven fat accumulation.
As the fat accumulates, the skin becomes more irregular, then skin begins to distort and mobility becomes affected. At stage 4, the lymphatic drainage also becomes blocked by the large deposits of fat, leading to thickening of the skin and increasing the risk of infections.
Early treatments like manual lymph drainage and compression are essential in preventing progression.
