July is Culinary Arts Month, and there's no better time to celebrate stories like Tom's. Life enrichment director, Linda at Orchard Path - a PHS senior living community, recently spent an afternoon teaching him something new: how to grill. It was his first time firing up the barbecue, and he nailed it, flipping, seasoning and serving up perfect hamburgers on the first try. Way to go, Tom! 🍔🔥

Employee Spotlight!
Hi everyone. My name is Mary Hadden and I have worked here at Mainstreet Village for almost four years. I serve in the Culinary Department. The Culinary Team is hardworking and I enjoy the friendships I have made with them. I serve the residents in Memory Care two days a week. I knew I would really enjoy this position. After being a caregiver for my family most of my life, this was very comfortable for me. Treating these residents with care and dignity is so important. Being able to communicate and visit with them over a meal has been rewarding. I feel it is a privilege to serve these residents and we bring joy to each other. What originally brought me here was my brother. Our family went through the process of searching for a place for him to live after he went through some difficult health issues. His doctor recommended that a community would be best for him as he was living on his own. We knew from the day we entered Mainstreet Village for a tour that this would be a wonderful home for him. The staff was so welcoming and kind and I love its faith-based ministry. He has been living in Assisted Living for four years. He loves it here and enjoys everyone he meets. Together we attend the social events on Tuesdays and visit and have conversations with the residents and staff. It has truly been a heartwarming experience for me to serve the residents here and also see my brother thrive in this community. Family is everything to me and I thank God every day. I have been married for fifty years, have three wonderful children (plus their amazing spouses), and seventeen beautiful grandchildren (yes you heard that right!). I love spending time with them all and going to the grandkids activities is always exciting. I enjoy flowers, knitting and heading "Up North". It's my favorite place to be by the lake and enjoy all of God's beauty.

Lane Skoglund-Anderson - Campus Pastor
It’s been my great joy to serve as Campus Pastor at Mainstreet Village for the past 14 years. It seems that my life’s journey brought me and prepared me to serve in this role. I have a great fondness for the arts. I come from a family of artists and musicians. In fact, my own family are artists too. My wife writes and arranges and directs music. Each of my 3 children use their visual art skills in their careers. I’ve dabbled in the visual arts, but my focus has been in music. I’ve written music for the piano, orchestras and choirs. I love to sing and perform on a variety of instruments. I say all this because my favorite art form is in people! We are all God’s wonderful works of art. What a privilege it has been to strive and see the wonder and beauty in our residents and staff.
