Fairways, philanthropy and tropical good times were promised, and delivered on Thursday, July 30 at House on the Rock Resort for The Richland Hospital Foundation's annual golf outing. We hosted 34 teams on the golf course and dozens more at the afternoon reception. It was so great to see so many of you at the event. The way this community comes together to support the work of the foundation is truly inspiring. We'll have a full recap soon, but for now, we just wanted to share a few snapshots from the event along with our sincere thank you for making it an amazing day. All proceeds raised benefit our new eye clinic.

Congratulations to our Athlete Spotlight, Hewsten Boland!

Here's why Hewsten's coaches believe he is deserving of the recognition:

“Hewsten has been our team's leader all season long. He is a vocal leader who is always helping teammates improve and cheering them on. Hewsten has also been a statistical leader for the team. He has stepped up in nearly every way imaginable, including earning a spot in the pitching rotation after spending his entire high school career as a catcher. This includes serving as our catcher during the state tournament as a freshman. He is a versatile player, an outstanding hitter, a smart baserunner, and a tremendous role model."

Congratulations, Hewsten!

When Ethan Gald saw the job posting for Registration Specialist at The Richland Hospital and Clinics, his first thought was, "Oh, that will be a great summer job for me." Ethan is a full-time college student perusing a degree in education. "I thought I would work over the summer and when I came home on weekends," he admits.

During his first two months on the job, he learned he could work remotely while attending college. "I was offered the opportunity after my first month on the job," he shared, a testament to the great work he was already doing. "I'm really looking forward to keeping up my skills and earning an income while I'm away at college," he added.

Ethan will be returning for his second year of school in the fall and taking his job with him.
"I'm so thankful for the time I have had here getting to know the job while working with such an incredible, supportive group," he says. "Everyone is so kind and invested in our shared success. It makes me look forward to coming back."

Thank you, Ethan, for answering the call to be a part of Patient Access. We are so lucky you're on our team. If you are interested in starting your health care journey, check out our careers page for job openings: https://careers.richlandhospital.com/job/registration-specialist/

Congratulations to our Athlete Spotlight, Macy McKay!
Here's why Macy's coaches believe she is deserving of the recognition:
“Macy is a leader on and off of the field. She is both her class valedictorian and a team captain. She leads the team in batting average, which included 5 home runs by the season's midway point. In addition, Macy has been an incredible mentor to our other varsity pitcher, who is currently a freshman. Macy's leadership will continue to help the program, even after graduation.
Congratulations, Macy!

"No two days are the same for a registration specialist. That's part of the fun of the job," says Roxanne Kursave. From problem-solving and coordination to positive patient experiences, this team plays a vital role in helping patients access the care they need. Which is why we're lucky to have Roxanne on our side. She's been behind the desk for just three and a half months but brings over 14 years of experience in different medical fields. "I have supported dentists, OB departments, but never a hospital. This is new to me," she admits.

Roxanne admits the job requires a lot of critical thinking and quick decision making. "I still feel like I'm learning new things every day," she says. Her success is due in part to her supportive peers who are quick to answer questions. "Take our ER team, for example. They are super helpful and so great to work with," she adds.

Roxanne moved to the Richland Center area three years ago from South Dakota to be closer to her son. "This is a great community. Aside from the humidity, it was an easy move to make."

We're so glad you joined us here, Roxanne! If you are curious about starting your career in health care, check out our job openings at https://careers.richlandhospital.com/job/registration-specialist/
