Did you know that the amount of toothpaste your child uses matters just as much as brushing itself? Using the right amount helps protect growing teeth while making sure kids get the cavity-fighting benefits of fluoride.
For children under age 3, a small smear of toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice) is recommended. Once kids are ages 3–6, you can increase that to a pea-sized amount. As children grow and learn to spit properly, they can continue using that same pea-sized amount.
Helping your child measure the right amount and supervising brushing helps build healthy habits that last a lifetime. A little toothpaste goes a long way toward a bright, healthy smile!
