Individuals with BPD or traits of borderline personality disorder, are more likely to have an intense and immersive fear of abandonment and will go to extreme lengths to not experience abandonments.

Additionally, individuals with BPD or traits of BPD, may have extreme valuation/devaluation of other people and they may jump from one side to the other depending on the situation and experience.

When an individual experiences immerse amount of trauma over a long period of time, their nervous system becomes heightened and in a constant state of survival mode. One of the coping mechanisms is adjusting to the chaos and environment they are living in and then can manifest as borderline personality disorder. An individual can have TRAITS of BPD but not have a full diagnosis of BPD.

We hear a lot of BPD, however, there is a lot of misinformation and making individuals with BPD out to be the villian. A huge percentage of individuals experienced childhood trauma that lead to personality changes and as a coping mechanism to SURVIVE. Individuals who have C-PTSD, can have SYMPTOMS of BPD but may not meet the full criteria for BPD, there is a difference.

So many times, I hear people have consented, if they consented than that is a yes; however, while in custody agreements, relocation disputes, consent given does not mean it was true consent. When you are under pressure, threatened in any situation, our survival responses may jump in and have us consent which can be apart of the parasympathetic nervous system (dorsal vagal) response. This is a type of survival mechanism to keep us surviving in moments that our overwhelming to us.

For therapy to be helpful, we must be completing honest. If we only give a portion of the story, we won’t receive the help that we deserve. Therapist can only help you as far as your honest and willing to receive help. If we don’t want to acknowledge our faults than therapy will just validate you and won’t help you grow.

Just sometimes therapy is like that.

This is just one example of student loan debt. The interest alone is nearly $22 a day. Over one month it would cost approximately $682 a month to just keep the balance from growing. This wasn’t taught during financial aid meetings or when taking loans out. The issue isn’t repayments. A lot of people just want affordability to pay these off. A lot of peoples professions required advanced careers that don’t pay enough to even cover their student loan amounts. But mental health professionals in particular, they have to take out over 100k to get their degrees and may not make enough to cover the student loans.
