Have you ever noticed how quickly we move the finish line?

You work hard.
You accomplish something you've been praying for.
You reach a goal you once thought was impossible.

And almost immediately, your mind starts saying...

"What's next?"
"I should probably..."
"I need to..."
"I'm already behind..."

Sound familiar?

One of the conversations I find myself having most often is reminding my young adults that every milestone deserves a moment.

Not because you've finished growing...

But because you've earned the right to celebrate how far you've come.

We spend so much time chasing the next achievement that we forget to honor the one we just reached.

Growth deserves celebration.
Progress deserves acknowledgment.
You deserve the chance to pause before you sprint toward the next goal.

Don't let the world rush you past the life you've worked so hard to build.

The quiet seasons are still productive seasons.

We live in a world that celebrates movement.

More meetings.
More accomplishments.
More announcements.
More hustle.

But I’ve learned that some of the most important work happens when no one is watching.

This past week, I stepped away, rested, laughed, reflected, and gave myself permission to refill my cup.

It reminded me that preparation is productive.

Rest is productive.
Planning is productive.

Sometimes the season that feels the quietest is actually preparing you for your biggest assignment.

So if you’ve been feeling like you’re “not doing enough,” maybe you don’t need to do more.

Maybe you need to prepare well for what’s next.

Before I left for vacation, I had every reason to keep working.

Emails.
Projects.
Planning.
Deadlines.

Y’all! I even sent one last email before leaving to catch my 5:40AM flight 🤦🏾‍♀️

Sound familiar?

But here’s what I’ve been learning…

We can’t pour into everyone else if we never give ourselves permission to refill.

Rest isn’t quitting.

Rest isn’t falling behind.

Sometimes rest is exactly what’s required for the next assignment.

I came home with more clarity than I left with.

Maybe that’s your reminder today.

Don’t just make room for productivity… make room for peace too.

ALIGNED. ASSIGNED. POSITIONED.

As June comes to a close, I’m reflecting on a powerful truth:

Alignment doesn’t always look like action.

Sometimes it looks like preparation.
Sometimes it looks like protection.
Sometimes it looks like a quiet season that no one else understands.

At the beginning of this year, there were moments when things felt slow.

Opportunities weren’t moving as quickly as I hoped. Progress felt invisible. There were days I wondered if I was doing enough.

But now I can see what was really happening.

The first half of this year wasn’t about rushing.

It was about getting aligned.

And when alignment happens, assignments follow.

The partnerships.
The opportunities.
The growth.
The impact.

None of it was random.

It was preparation for what comes next.

If you’re in a season that feels slow, don’t confuse slow with stuck.

You are not behind.

You may be getting aligned for an assignment that’s bigger than what you can see right now.

And when the time comes, you’ll be ready.

The work doesn’t stop when the school year ends.

In fact, some of the most important planning happens between the seasons.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we’re continuing to build partnerships, strengthen programs, and create new opportunities for youth and families to grow, connect, and thrive.

One thing we’re especially excited about?

Parenting on Purpose is coming back this August.

After the incredible conversations, connections, and celebrations from our last event, we knew this couldn’t be a one-time experience.

Parents still need support.
Parents still need community.
Parents still need spaces where they can learn, reflect, and grow together.

More details are coming soon.

Everybody talks about alignment.

But alignment doesn’t always look the way we think it will.

Sometimes alignment looks like waiting.

Sometimes it looks like preparation.

Sometimes it looks like closed doors, unexpected detours, and quiet seasons that don’t seem to make sense.

Earlier this year, there were moments when progress felt slow.

Now, looking back, I can see that things weren’t standing still.

They were being positioned.

The partnerships.
The opportunities.
The growth.
The impact.

Alignment wasn’t about things happening quickly.

It was about the right things happening at the right time.

As we close out this month , and the first half of the year, I’m grateful for every lesson, every relationship, and every opportunity that continues to confirm that Unbreakable Minds is walking in its purpose.

What if the things you’re being called to do are bigger than what you feel prepared for?

That’s what I’ve been learning about assignments.

Being assigned doesn’t always mean you’re ready.
It doesn’t always mean you have all the resources.
It doesn’t always mean the path is clear.

Sometimes it simply means you’ve been trusted with a responsibility that requires faith, courage, and obedience.

When I look at the work of Unbreakable Minds, the youth we serve, the parents we support, the partnerships we’re building, and the opportunities that continue to emerge, I’m reminded that this work is bigger than me.

It is an assignment.

And every day, I have the opportunity to choose whether I will show up and carry it well.

The question is not whether the assignment is easy.

The question is whether we are willing to answer the call.

The Men Behind The Mission Matter Too

Men’s mental health matters.

Not just because men matter… although they absolutely do.

It matters because fathers matter. Brothers matter. Sons matter. Mentors matter. Coaches matter. Grandfathers matter.

So many men are carrying responsibilities, solving problems, supporting others, and showing up every day while quietly carrying stress, pressure, and challenges of their own.

As we recognize Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month and celebrate Father’s Day, let’s remember that strong communities are built when the people carrying so much for others also have space to care for themselves.

Sometimes the most powerful questions we can ask are simple:
How are you doing?
How can I help?

Think of a man who has positively impacted your life and share one thing you appreciate about him in the comments.
