πŸ’™ Wellness Wednesday: When β€œI’m Fine” Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story

Not everyone who is struggling will say, β€œI need help.” Sometimes the signs show up in changes in behavior, mood, routines, or relationships.

During National Su***de Prevention Month, we’re encouraging everyone to look beyond the words β€œI’m fine” and pay attention to what may be happening underneath.

πŸ’› Changes worth noticing may include:

* Withdrawing from family, friends, or activities
* Significant changes in mood or behavior
* Increased irritability, sadness, anxiety, or hopelessness
* Changes in sleeping or eating patterns
* Increased use of alcohol or other substances
* Talking about feeling like a burden or having no purpose
* Giving away meaningful possessions or saying goodbye
* Talking or posting about death, su***de, or not wanting to be here

One sign alone does not necessarily mean someone is considering su***de. But when something feels different, don't be afraid to check in.

πŸ’¬ Instead of only asking, β€œAre you okay?” try:

β€œI've noticed you haven't seemed like yourself lately. I care about you. How are you really doing?”

You don't need to diagnose, fix, or have all the answers.
Notice. Ask. Listen. Connect.

If someone may be in immediate danger or experiencing a suicidal crisis, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Call 911 for an immediate life-threatening emergency.

πŸ’› September: Hope Begins With Connection

As we begin September, Fingerprints Family Services recognizes **National Su***de Prevention Month**β€”a time to increase awareness, reduce stigma, strengthen connection, and remind one another that asking for help is a sign of strength.

Throughout this month, we'll focus on:

πŸ’› Recognizing the signs that someone may be struggling.
πŸ’™ Responding with compassion instead of judgment.
πŸ’› Starting conversations that may feel difficult but matter.
πŸ’™ Connecting people to support when more help is needed.
πŸ’› Creating communities of hope where no one has to struggle in silence.

You don't have to be a mental health professional to make a difference. Sometimes it begins with noticing a change, checking in, listening, and reminding someone that they matter.

September's Challenge:

Don't just ask, β€œHow are you?”
Take the time to ask, β€œHow are you, really?”—and make space for the answer.**

This month, let's choose connection over silence, compassion over judgment, and hope over stigma.**

🌟 Magnanimous Monday

Celebrate Progress, Not Just Performance

As the first weeks of school come to an end, pause and recognize the progress your child has made.

Celebrate waking up on time, adjusting to routines, meeting new people, asking for help, completing assignments, and continuing through difficult moments.

Success is not only found in grades. It is also found in courage, consistency, effort, and growth.

πŸ’¬ This week’s reminder:
β€œSmall progress is still progress.”

Pause. Reflect. Grow.

πŸ“£Let's Talk Thursday: When Kids Say, "I Don't Want to Go to School"

Sometimes children don't have the words to explain what's really happening.

"I don't want to go" could mean:
πŸ’™ I'm anxious.
πŸ’™ I'm overwhelmed.
πŸ’™ I'm lonely.
πŸ’™ I'm struggling socially.
πŸ’™ I don't feel successful.
πŸ’™ I'm exhausted.

Let's look beyond the behavior and become curious about what's underneath.

Talking Points

πŸŽ’ Students
Your feelings are valid.
You don't have to carry worries alone.
Asking for help is courageous.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Parents
Respond with curiosity instead of frustration.
Validate emotions before solving problems.
Work with your child's school when concerns continue.

🍎 Educators
Notice changes in attendance, mood, and engagement.
Foster emotionally safe classrooms.
Encourage students to identify trusted adults.

🏘️ Community
Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and seen.
Together we create environments where children can thrive.

πŸ’¬ Let's Talk About It:
How can we work together to ensure every child feels supported at school?

πŸ’™ Wellness Wednesday – When School Stress Becomes More Than Stress

Some stress is a normal part of growing and learning. But when worries begin to interfere with daily life, it may be time to seek additional support.

Signs your child may need extra help include:
πŸ’™ Persistent sadness or anxiety
πŸ’™ Frequent physical complaints without a medical cause
πŸ’™ Changes in sleep or appetite
πŸ’™ Avoiding school or activities they once enjoyed
πŸ’™ Difficulty concentrating or withdrawing from others

Seeking support is a sign of strengthβ€”not weakness. Early intervention can help children develop healthy coping skills that last a lifetime.

At Fingerprints Family Services, we're here to support students and families every step of the way.

🌟 Magnanimous Monday
Emotional Wellness Supports Academic Success

School readiness is about more than supplies, schedules, and grades. Children also need the ability to recognize emotions, manage stress, ask for help, and recover from difficult moments.

Take time to check in beyond, β€œHow was school?”

πŸ’¬ Try asking:
β€œWhat made you feel proud, worried, excited, or frustrated today?”

Pause. Reflect. Grow.

πŸŒ… Sunday Purpose | Lead With Connection

Before we teach, correct, or solve problems, we have an opportunity to connect.

Children, families, educators, and communities all thrive when relationships are built on trust, empathy, and understanding.

As you enter this week, look for simple ways to strengthen connectionβ€”a conversation at dinner, a note of encouragement, or a few uninterrupted minutes together can make a lasting impact.

✨ This week's intention:
"Today, I will choose connection before correction and compassion before criticism."

Purpose grows through meaningful relationships.
