In 2022, Saint Francis Home was officially rebranded to Saint Francis - Manchester. This important change moved Saint Francis - Manchester beyond the institutional label of “home,” asserting our place in the vibrant Manchester neighborhood as an assisted living community. Additionally, the logo, a reference to Saint Francis, also highlights our connection to faith and our diversity. This branding made Saint Francis - Manchester stronger, communicating to the public who we are and why we’re here.

Last week, a group of Richmond Fire Marshals guest hosted a Health 101 for the residents at Saint Francis - Manchester. From how to use a fire extinguisher to the Fire Department’s strategic locations, the residents got an insight into the whys and hows of some of Richmond’s hard-working community leaders and first responders.

Since naming Saint Francis – Manchester as their charitable beneficiary in 2021, Thrifty Sisters has been a devoted supporter of the residents and the mission. Their dedicated courtyard, seen daily by both staff and residents, reminds us all of their unyielding commitment and valuable partnership.

Last week, the Saint Francis residents got to enjoy a performance at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Huguenot’s Ovation holiday concert is an amazing event that the residents had been looking forward to. Thank you to Huguenot Road Baptist Church for extending the invitation!

In 2019, Saint Francis – Manchester was granted the opportunity to build an onsite chapel. Since its completion, the chapel has provided a beautiful space for prayer and community, welcoming in residents, staff, and volunteers alike.

Last week, various members of the Richmond community, from corporate; civic; and faith-based sectors, attended Saint Francis – Manchester’s fourth annual Community Briefing hosted at the Virginia War Memorial. We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Fred Karnas who spoke alongside Board President, Chris Malone, and resident family member, Brian Bowe, about the ever-growing challenges facing seniors in the greater Richmond region.
