Out-of-network PT gets a lot of questions. Here’s what it actually means for you.

When you come to Formation, your session is 60 minutes. The full hour. With the same provider every single time. Someone who already knows your history, your goals, and what you’re working toward.

There are no aides. No bouncing between patients. No 15-minute visits where half the time is a hot pack.

When physical therapy works inside an insurance system, the volume requirements make it nearly impossible to give that kind of attention. Not because providers don’t want to. Because the system doesn’t allow it.

Out-of-network care means the session belongs to you. The plan is built around you. And the goal is getting you back to your life, not just clearing you for discharge.

It costs more upfront. We know that. What it doesn’t cost you is time, repeat visits, or starting over because nothing actually stuck.

If you want to talk through whether this kind of care makes sense for your situation, we offer free discovery calls. Link in bio.

We are hiring a Client Experience Coordinator at Formation.

This is a part-time, in-person role in Carytown for someone who is organized, warm, and genuinely reliable. You will be the first voice prospective clients hear and the reason current clients feel taken care of every time they walk in.

This is a long-term role. We are not looking for something seasonal or temporary. We want someone who wants to grow with us.

If that sounds like you, or someone you know, the full job description is linked in our bio.

Formation is a LGBTQIA+ woman-owned physical therapy practice.

We don’t mention that to check a box. We mention it because it shapes the kind of space we’ve worked to build. One where everyone who walks in feels respected and cared for. Not just treated and sent home.

Healthcare has not always been a safe or welcoming place for LGBTQIA+ people. We know that. And we take seriously what it means to be a practice where that changes, even in a small way.

Happy Pride Month, Richmond. We’re really glad you’re here.

Most people never get told how they’re moving. They get a diagnosis, a list of exercises, and a follow-up in 4 weeks. We watch how you actually move, because that’s where the answers are. That’s what changes things.

A lot of people come in here having already modified, avoided, and second-guessed their way through workouts for months.

Not because they’re weak. Because nobody ever actually fixed the underlying problem.

That changes here.

We build the strength and stability your body needs so you can stop bracing for the worst every time you lace up. This is what it looks like to train with a plan behind you.

This one means a lot to us.

The longer you wait, the harder it usually is to fix.

What starts as something small can turn into compensation, stiffness, and a longer recovery timeline if it’s ignored.

Getting started early doesn’t mean jumping into anything aggressive—it means having a plan, staying ahead of it, and keeping things from getting worse.

If something feels off, it’s worth addressing now instead of months from now.
