In case you missed it: Dr. Travan Jasper and Dr. Travis Jasper’s incredible story has received national attention again, and we’re feeling extra grateful to highlight their in the Richmond community.

The identical twin brothers, doctors and co-medical directors of the emergency department at Chippenham Hospital, part of Chippenham & Johnston-Willis Hospitals and HCA Virginia Health System, were recently featured by The Washington Post. Their story follows them from growing up together in Richmond to leading an ER side by side.

👶 Every baby deserves a strong start. For some families, that begins in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Three students. Three families. One shared calling to care.

Berkley May Hipkins, Mikayla Tuthill and Julia Brownie grew up watching their mothers — Jessica Hipkins, Wendi Tuthill and Katrina Brownie — care for others as longtime colleagues at Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of Chippenham & Johnston-Willis Hospitals.

Now, with support from the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship, Berkley, Mikayla and Julia are pursuing nursing careers at Virginia Commonwealth University, Randolph-Macon College and James Madison University.

Their stories reflect the lasting impact of compassionate care — and the power of investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals.

🎥 Could endoscopic spine surgery mean a shorter recovery? Is it time to talk to a spine specialist for your neck and back pain or immobility?

Dr. Joshua Herzog, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Chippenham & Johnston-Willis Hospitals, sat down with the team at 12 On Your Side and discussed how endoscopic spine surgery differs from traditional spine surgery and who may be a candidate.

He also shared common misconceptions about spine surgery and when back pain or spine-related symptoms — such as severe pain, numbness, weakness or changes in function — may be signs it’s time to seek medical attention.

We're proud to recognize our own Reston Hospital Center's emergency department for earning the Emergency Nurses Association’s 2026 Lantern Award. 🏆

More adults across Central Virginia will have tools to support young people’s emotional well-being through the expansion of Everyday Strong, a youth mental health initiative led by United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg with support from HCA Virginia.

The program is made possible through a $25,000 grant from HCA Virginia through the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund.

"Children build resilience through the adults around them. This funding lets us reach more of those adults with the skills and confidence to show up for the young people in their lives," said Aliyah Karner, healthy community director at United Way Greater Richmond and Petersburg.

Helping Virginia families start the school year strong! 🎒📚

At HCA Virginia, caring goes beyond our patients. It means caring for one another, too. Thanks to the incredible generosity of colleagues across our 13 hospitals throughout Central, Northern and Southwest Virginia, our Back-to-School Drive collected nearly 23,000 school supplies to help approximately 2,750 students head into the new school year feeling prepared and confident.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, organized and helped make this effort possible. Together, we're supporting our HCA Virginia families and bringing our mission to life caring for our communities both inside and outside our hospital walls.

Hannah Adams, RN, came to LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia, part of LewisGale Regional Health System, looking for a job during the early days of COVID-19. What she found was a calling.

Now an emergency room nurse and mentor to future nurses at Galen College of Nursing, Hannah says her experience has taught her that, "We succeed because we support one another and remember we’re in it together."
