Position Summary
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic planning, administration, and operational management of the mental health facility. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Executive Director oversees clinical and administrative operations, staff development, financial performance, risk management, and community relations to support the organization's mission and goals. This position is Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 with over site on weekends of House Supervision and GroupMe availability. Starting pay for Executive Director is $55,000.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
• Provide overall direction and leadership for facility operations.
• Develop and implement organizational goals, policies, and strategic plans.
• Foster a positive organizational culture focused on quality patient care and employee engagement.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable mental health, healthcare, and accreditation standards.
• Represent the facility in community partnerships, professional organizations, and public relations activities.
Operational Management
• Oversee daily operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
• Monitor facility performance metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure programs and services meet the needs of patients and the community.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures that support organizational objectives.
Financial Management
• Ensure financial sustainability through effective resource allocation and cost management.
• Review financial reports and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Identify opportunities for program growth and funding sources.
Staff Development
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate management staff.
• Promote employee development through training and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
• Address employee relations issues and support workforce retention initiatives.
Compliance and Risk Management
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, state licensing requirements, and other regulatory standards.
• Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping practices.
• Oversee risk management activities and implement corrective action plans as needed.
• Coordinate audits, inspections, and accreditation reviews.
Program Development and Quality Assurance
• Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure quality behavioral health services.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.
• Support the development of new services and community outreach initiatives.
• Monitor patient satisfaction and quality outcomes. DMH Programs & Services Oversight
Provide executive oversight for all programs regulated by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH), including but not limited to:
o Supervised Living
o Supported Living
o Behavior Supervised Living
o Day Services Adult
o Pre-Vocational and Supported Employment Services
o In-Home and Community Support Services
• Ensure full compliance with DMH certification standards, rules, policies, audits, and site reviews.
• Oversee documentation systems, incident reporting, service delivery compliance, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate DMH recertification's, corrective action responses, and follow-up monitoring.
• Ensure staff training, credentialing, and supervision meet DMH requirements.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare management or healthcare administration experience required.
• Experience supervising staff and managing organizational operations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of behavioral health regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, financial reports, and operational performance.
• Knowledge of quality improvement and risk management principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and electronic health record systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform office-related duties for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to travel as necessary for meetings, training, and community events.
Work Environment
• Primarily operates in an office and healthcare facility environment.
• Frequent interaction with employees, patients, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
• May be required to work beyond normal business hours to address operational needs.
