Florence Jane Carr, 73, of Holcomb, WV, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 26, 1953, in Richwood, WV, to the late John Amos and Fidella Josephine Nash Shoulders of Richwood.

Florence was a 1971 graduate of Richwood High School. She loved getting together with family and friends. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with people at craft shows, while selling her “rag rugs”.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, David L Carr of Holcomb, WV; sons: David E (Marlena) Carr of Craigsville, Joseph J. (Chasity) Carr of Richwood and Chantz D (Jade) Carr of Richwood; daughters: Melanie J. (Shawn) Cowell of Holcomb and Erika Alderman of Richwood; grandson: Adam L Carr of Summersville, WV; step-grandchildren: Bradlee (Tori) Short of Summersville and Cheyenne Short of Tioga; great-grandchildren: Thomas, Erik and Tessa Collins of Richwood, WV; siblings: Alta (Doug) Young of Nettie, WV, Lena Crain of Palatka, FL, John Shoulders II of Holcomb, WV, Bill (Reba) Shoulders of Winburne, PA, Doug (Carol) Shoulders of Sterling, MI, and Steve Shoulders of Covington, VA.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 04, 2026, at 1:00pm at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, WV, with Pastor Larry Gawthrop officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service from 11am-1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, Nettie, WV.

Orveid Bradford McMillion, age 67, of Richwood, WV, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Pocahontas Center in Marlinton, WV, after a long illness.

Brad was born on August 03, 1959, in Richwood, WV, to the late Orveid and Deloris Bond McMillion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Joyce McMillion and Willa Kenney and 1 brother, James McMillion.

He is survived by 2 children, Douglas McMillion and David and wife, Jessica McMillion; 4 grandchildren: Landon McMillion, Hayden McMillion, Teagan McMillion, Audrena McMillion; 3 sisters, April Griffith, Virginia Davis and Crystal and husband, Alan Bailey; 2 brothers, Drexel McMillion and Tracey McMillion, numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00AM at Fields Cemetery, Nettie, WV.

Nathan Scot Facemire, 43, of Richwood, WV, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Nathan was born on May 07, 1983, in Summersville, WV, to Henry Allen and Ethel Jane McClure Facemire. Nathan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amy Bennett Facemire, Holcomb, WV; daughter, Audrianna Facemire, Richwood, WV; parents, Henry and Ethel Facemire, Richwood, WV; brother, Patrick and wife, Janetta Facemire, Richwood, WV; uncle, Gary and Carol Facemire, Craigsville, WV; aunt, Diana and husband, Mike Spencer, Richwood, WV; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Manciel and Ida Facemire and maternal grandparents, Montana and Betty McClure.

Per the family’s request, Nathan’s body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Doye Evander Ward, 85, of Craigsville, West Virginia, passed away at Summersville Regional Medical Center, Summersville, West Virginia, after a short illness.

He was born on July 4, 1941, in Craigsville, West Virginia, to the late Esker and Fossie Blankenship Ward.

Doye was a proud coal miner and worked in the mines until he was injured. He was a hardworking man who loved his family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by four children, John Ward (Darlean) of Summersville, West Virginia; Rodney Williams of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; Sheila Dianne Giles (Randy) of Cowen, West Virginia; and Doye Ward, Jr. (Carol) of Craigsville, West Virginia; two brothers, Richard Ward and David Ward; and two sisters, Phyllis Workman (Dale) and Lena Jane Byrd (Marlin). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Doye was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Ward; two children, Ruth Marie Ward and Douglas Edward Ward; and several brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mtn. Trail Cemetery in Craigsville, West Virginia.

Christopher James “CJ” McLaughlin, 31, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.

CJ, who lived with non-verbal autism, communicated his feelings through his expressive eyes. He faced many challenges throughout his life. Despite these difficulties, he touched the lives of everyone around him with his strength, resilience, and unwavering love.

CJ found the greatest joy in being with his family, especially his beloved niece and nephew. He loved anything that made noise and had a special fascination with the stars. He reminded all who knew him how fragile life is and showed everyone how big his love was by overcoming obstacles every day.

CJ was a very special person who needed full attention and care, and his presence brought a unique love and meaning to the lives of those around him. His family will forever cherish the memories of his beautiful spirit, his expressive eyes, and the love he shared with them.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Terry and James Lee Westfall Jr., and his paternal grandparents, Virginia McLaughlin and Dewey Pickett.

He is survived by his loving mother and father, Kandie and Larry McLaughlin, of Richwood, West Virginia; twin brother, Roger “RJ” McLaughlin, of Richwood, West Virginia; sisters, Haley McClung and Heather and husband, Brandon Surgeon; brother-in-law Adam McClung; his cherished nieces and nephews Layla and Jacob McClung and Ian, Brandon, Paul and Sydney Sergeon; and many other family and friends who will forever miss and hold his memory in their hearts.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, Christopher will be cremated so that he may remain at home with his loving family, where he belongs.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May his strength, his beautiful spirit, and his unconditional love never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 2-5pm at the Alumni Hall on Main Street, Richwood, WV.

Clemente Diaz, 94, of Richwood, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Clemente was born on October 5, 1931, in Parral, Mexico, the youngest of seven children. In 1960, he emigrated to the United States, where he built a life defined by faith, family, service, and an unwavering commitment to others.

For more than 50 years, Dr. Diaz served the rural community of Richwood and surrounding areas as a medical doctor. His dedication to his patients and his community touched countless lives. He was not only a physician, but a trusted friend and compassionate presence to generations of families.

Clemente was a longtime member of Richwood Christian Church and deeply loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was an important part of his life and provided him with strength, purpose, and peace.

He proudly served for five years in the United States Army Reserves.

Clemente shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Gail, who preceded him in death. She was the love of his life, and their years together were filled with love, family, travel, and countless memories. They especially enjoyed traveling to Montana and Yellowstone. Clemente also loved skiing, spending time outdoors in his beloved West Virginia, and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers.

He was an exceptionally intelligent man with a wonderful wit and sense of humor. Those who knew him will remember his quick mind, his stories, his laughter, and the unique way he could make people smile. Above all, Clemente loved his family deeply and took great pride in the generations that followed him.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Jon), Susan (Ron), and Danny; his grandchildren, Drew, Aaron, Sam, Kerry, Carly, Kendra, Simone, and Nazy; and his seven great-grandchildren, Flora, Lilly, Selena, Parker, Fletcher, Andi, and Liam. He is also survived by a great-grandbaby who is lovingly anticipated in September.

Clemente leaves behind a remarkable legacy of faith, love, medicine, service, family, and a life well lived. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the lives he touched will continue through the many generations of family, friends, and patients who were blessed to know him.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Richwood Christian Church, Richwood, WV with Jon Hudnall officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 13, 2026,
from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the Richwood Christian Church, Richwood, WV.

Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park Richwood, WV.

Debra Sue Cox, 71, of Craigsville, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026, at her residence following a long illness.

Born on August 21, 1954, in Richwood, West Virginia, Debra was the daughter of the late Delbert Querry and Ethel Lavon McClung Seabolt. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Billy Seabolt; her grandmother, Phala McClung; her sister, Drema Bontempo; and her brother, Doby Querry.

Debra attended Triton College, later Concord University, where she earned an Associate Degree as a Laboratory Technician. She dedicated many years to caring for others throughout her career, working at Richwood Area Community Hospital, Summersville Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Chang's office. In 1991, she and her husband co-founded Redi-Care Ambulance Service, where she took great pride in serving the community.

A devoted Christian, Debra was an active member of Alderson Baptist Church. She faithfully served in the youth ministry and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she loved the Lord with all her heart.

Above all, Debra was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She deeply cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She enjoyed shopping, caring for her beloved animals—especially her faithful Yorkie, Toto—and traveling. She was well traveled and especially loved cruising and making memories with those she loved.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, David Cox; her sons, Michael Cox and wife, Dana, of Craigsville, and Phillip Cox of Charleston; her grandchildren, Aliya Cox, Kylee Cox, Liam Cox, Lauren Cox, and Laini Gladden; her bonus grandchild, Gabriel Hunter; her sisters, Lavon Macko, Elaine Billetter, Sheila Turney, Patricia Piper, and Jennifer Perkins; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Yorkie, Toto.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Alderson Baptist Church in Craigsville.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Alderson Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Luppino and Rev. Eddie Groves officiating. Interment will follow in Buckle Cemetery, Craigsville.

The family invites those attending the visitation and funeral to dress casually. Because purple was Debra's favorite color, everyone is encouraged to wear something purple in her memory and honor.
