A new school year means new routines, new experiences, new vocabulary and lots of opportunities to support your child's communication.

Remember, supporting communication doesn't have to feel like “therapy.” Some of the most meaningful opportunities happen naturally during everyday routines.

Meet Ms. Kate! 💛

We’re so excited to introduce you to Katelyn Scannell, M.S., CF-SLP

Katelyn earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Seton Hall University and her Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences, with a minor in Special Education, from Loyola University Maryland. She is a Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist licensed in New Jersey.

Throughout her graduate training, Katelyn gained experience across a variety of settings, including a public school, an outpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in cognitive rehabilitation therapy, and a private practice.

Her clinical interests include expressive and receptive language, articulation, phonology, early intervention for language delays, and feeding therapy.

Katelyn brings creativity, compassion, and a family-centered approach to every session. She is passionate about creating personalized, functional goals and engaging therapy activities that help children feel supported, motivated, and excited to communicate and learn.

A summer recap from Sol Speech Therapy!☀️

While things may have been a little quiet over here, there has been so much happening behind the scenes! This summer brought lots of exciting moments for our Sol family, including:

✨ Welcoming new members to our growing team
🎤 Attending Made for More and continuing to learn and connect
🤍 Celebrating special moments together as a team
👶 And one very exciting new addition to the Sol family…arriving this October!

Today, we celebrate the beauty of every unique mind, the quiet strength, the bright perspectives, the ways of seeing the world that make it richer and more compassionate. Autism is not something to fix it’s something to understand, support, and embrace.

💛Autism affects communication, behavior, and sensory processing.

💛Many autistic people have strengths in pattern recognition, creativity, or focus.

💛Autism isn’t always visible
you can’t tell someone is autistic just by looking at them.

💛Routines can be very important because they help create a sense of comfort and predictability.

💛Many autistic people communicate in different ways, including nonverbal communication or assistive devices.

💛Eye contact can be uncomfortable for some autistic individuals but that doesn’t mean they aren’t listening.

Early support can make a big difference in quality of life.
Autism is life long not something people “grow out of.”
