Karma Flow
Friday, May 1
9:30 - 10:30 am

Karma yoga is the yoga of action.
It is not neutral and it is not passive.
It asks you to take your practice off the mat and into the world with the intention to make it a better place.

Karma yoga asks you to: speak when it would be easier to be quiet, to act when it would be easier to turn inward, and to risk discomfort in the service of doing something bigger than ourselves.

This is a free class offered to those participating in the May 1st National General Strike.
Your practice doesn’t end when you roll up your mat; it’s where it begins.

Preregistration is required - Space is limited - Link in bio to sign up!

It’s not politics, it’s the practice.

Now is the time for yoga teachers and practitioners to get off the sidelines.

If you remain silent in the face of harm and injustice, what will that say about your yoga practice and teachings?

Yoga practice was never meant to make us feel comfortable by avoiding reality. Instead, it asks us to step right into it.

Karma yoga teaches that the practice is not only about inward reflection but also about outward action. It means aligning what we believe with what we do.

The question isn’t whether yoga is political or if politics should be kept out of yoga, but whether you are willing to fully live the practice.

Yoga practice does not end when you roll up your mat; it’s where it begins.

HOW ARE YOU MEETING THIS MOMENT?

This Saturday, March 28th, the studio will be closed in an effort to encourage everyone to get out and stand up.

There are 3000 planned marches and rallies across the country - this will most likely be the largest protest in U.S. history.

Visit NoKings.org to find an event close to you.

Yoga practice does not end when you roll up your mat; it’s where it begins.

The Work Continues ...
Protests help build momentum and foster community.
And it helps provide the energy needed to continue the required work between protests. Opposition is not a one-day effort.

What else can you do?

~Call/email your elected officials each week. The congressional switchboard number is: (202)224-3121

~Boycotts: Avoid supporting and purchasing from companies that support this administration’s policies.

Examples: Target, Amazon, Home Depot

Visit spendingspotlight.com to redirect your spending to companies that don’t align themselves with authoritarians.

~ Social Media: Meta (the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Threads) has contributed $1M+ to Trump.
Choose wisely how you utilize these platforms - or get off of them entirely.

Do you feel frustrated with your yoga progress or judge your body’s abilities during practice?

Some challenges can be traced to muscular tension, which can be trained to lengthen and release.
However, we often overlook the fact that many limitations are actually due to bone shapes and joint orientations.

These limits are structural and cannot be changed.

Each body is unique, and these variations will vary from person to person.
This is why teachers encourage students not to compare themselves with others, as it often leads to frustration and disappointment.

You set yourself up for unnecessary suffering when you try to force your body into an unattainable shape due to structural restrictions instead of muscular ones.

This comparative anatomy workshop will help you understand YOUR anatomy and possibly change the way you approach and practice yoga.

We will explore range of motion exercises for each major joint in the body, and you will learn to discern whether the sensations you are feeling come from tension (muscular) or compression (structural).

Not only will this help you to find a healthier physical practice, it will bring you back to one of the key concepts of a yoga practice:
It’s not how a pose looks, it is how it FEELS.

This workshop is suitable for all levels, both students and teachers.

Our mission at LKPY is to offer a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all. We understand that everyone comes from different backgrounds and life experiences, and with that comes different goals and priorities.
We are committed to honoring the individuality of all our students, and offer tools to help you find your own personal challenge. As well as, find meaning in the practice that goes beyond the pose.

You will always be guided to practice at your own personal level and pace.
Our classes are judgment free zones and designed for all levels.
We offer variations and modifications throughout class. You will be encouraged to compassionately challenge yourself and rest when needed.

Consistency is the key with a yoga practice. Our one month unlimited classes intro offer for only $75 will encourage you as a new student to create a regular routine so that you can begin to reap the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
