Many of our customers' orders over the past month were captured and withheld from delivery by FedEx, due to an internal systems error at FedEx. We believe that this issue has finally been corrected, and orders are now resuming normal shipping and delivery. We are sending replacement orders this week to customers whose items were returned to us or otherwise not delivered. We appreciate everyone's patience while we worked to sort through this extensive issue!

SICC 2026: First Round Update 🎶

Registration for the first round of the 2026 Silverstein International Clarinet Contest is now closed. Thank you to every clarinetist who sent us a video!

📊 First round at a glance

54 contestants qualified for first-round judging
Junior Division: 30 | Senior Division: 24
Applicants from 30 countries, with qualified contestants from 25
5 continents represented: Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania

Almost every disqualification this year came from the video submission rules, not the playing. The most common problems were a missing spoken introduction and low video resolution.

🎥 Planning to enter SICC 2027? Before you upload:
✔️ Open with a spoken introduction: your name, the piece, the composer and the recording date
✔️ Record at the required resolution or higher
✔️ Use one continuous take with no edits
✔️ Play one piece, under 12 minutes
✔️ Keep your face, both hands and the whole clarinet in frame
✔️ Check your division against your date of birth
✔️ Submit once only, and contact us if you need to fix your entry
✔️ Upload a real profile photo, not a screenshot

“No Hype Blues” is the first in a series of three new videos by Silverstein Artist Ron Blake Music and his Quartet. The second video releases October 16 and is the Quartet’s rendering of the late Johnny Griffin’s beautiful minor-key ballad “When We Were One.” Following on November 16 is the Quartet’s take on Duke Pearson’s “Is That So?,” which recalls the golden Blue Note era.

“Sonny Rollins’s creative output over the course of more than six decades was a true testament to his conviction to achieve the highest level of mastery in jazz improvisation, composition, and saxophone excellence,” says Blake. “His style and commitment to excellence defined the music we know as jazz today and, in addition, pushed the limits of possibilities over the trajectory of his career, never settling on his past accomplishments. In this regard, he has been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me.

“When We Were One” "became one of my features with the Roy Hargrove Quintet after Griff recorded it on The Tenors of Our Time,” says Blake, noting that October 16 is also Hargrove’s birthday.
