Dr. Anthony Carter Named President of MAFP Foundation
The Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation is pleased to announce Anthony J. Carter, MD, of Greenville, as President of the MAFP Foundation Board of Trustees.
Dr. Carter serves as core faculty and Medical Student Clerkship Director for the Mississippi Delta Family Medicine Residency in Greenville. A graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine, he completed his family medicine residency at Mississippi Delta Family Medicine Residency as a member of the program's inaugural class and served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Carter's involvement with the MAFP Foundation began as a resident, when he joined the Board of Trustees as its resident member in 2022. He has continued to serve the Foundation in progressively increasing leadership roles, including secretary and vice president before assuming the role of president in July 2026.
“Serving as the Foundation’s resident trustee gave me an early opportunity to see the impact the Foundation can have on students, residents, and the future of family medicine in Mississippi. Having grown with the Foundation from resident trustee to president, I’m excited to now help lead its work and expand that impact for the next generation of family physicians.”
Thank you Dr. Carter for serving the MAFP Foundation and your community and state!
