This Mental Illness Awareness Week, we explore how scientific discoveries, diverse perspectives, early support, and lived experience can help shape a better future for mental health care.

But progress isn't just about what we learn. It's also about how we listen, who we include, and what we do with that knowledge.

When people living with mental illness share their experiences, they can help challenge stigma, inform research, improve approaches to care, and create stronger communities of support.
On this World Mental Health Day, we're closing the week with a reminder: Real voices can lead to real change.

A table full of resources in a room where recovery takes center stage. 💙

We were proud to participate in the annual Mental Health & Substance Use Recovery Summit with United Way of Northeast Mississippi, joining a powerful conversation focused on connecting, educating, and expanding our region’s recovery ecosystem.

The challenges facing our communities are complex, and addressing the growing need for mental health and substance use support requires more than a one-size-fits-all solution. It takes collaboration, innovation, education, prevention, resource connection, and a commitment to meeting people where they are.

We’ll continue to challenge stigma, champion supportive policies, provide free programs and services, and strengthen connections that help individuals and families find their pathways toward recovery!

Mississippi Department of Mental Health's Shatter the Silence: Su***de Prevention Symposium was a powerful reminder that everyone can play a role in su***de prevention. This year’s theme: “Changing the Narrative by Silencing Stigma" continued the conversation.

A call, a text, an attempt to reach out, that’s not a small thing. For some people, it's everything. Connection keeps people alive.

Knowing what to look for can help save a life.

Withdrawing from loved ones, changes in sleep, increased aggression, reckless behavior, or extreme mood swings can be warning signs that someone may be struggling or thinking about su***de.

Recognize the signs. Reach out. Listen without judgment. Remind them they’re not alone. 💜
Talking about su***de isn’t harmful. Silence is.
