Northern Lights Behavioral Consulting

Northern Lights Behavioral Consulting Northern Lights Behavioral Consulting offers in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children 2-21, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

We are serving from Dayton, TN to Lafayette and Chatsworth, GA! Northern Lights Behavioral Consulting is owned and operated by Amy Jarrell. Amy Jarrell is a Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) living in Chattanooga, TN. She has been a BCBA since 2021, before which she was an elementary school teacher and a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). An autistic individual herself, she is committed

to trauma-informed practices, as well as respecting the assent and dissent of the people she works with (staff, children, and their families). Amy chose the name "Northern Lights" for her practice, because of their intense beauty and their diversity. She believes that they are natural representation of Autism itself.

It’s Getting REAL 💙✨

We’re getting SO close!

The clinic got a good cleaning today, the floors are in, the walls are painted, and suddenly… it actually looks like a clinic. 🥹

There are still a few final touches to finish up, but walking into this space and seeing the vision come together is such an incredible feeling.

From an empty space to Northern Lights Behavioral Consulting—we’re almost there. 💙

I can’t wait to fill these rooms with laughter, learning, connection, and lots of little moments that matter.

The countdown is officially on. ✨

(I 100% wanted to have the audio be "It's the final countdown", but that wasn't available)

As a BCBA who serves autistic people and as an AuDHD adult myself, I can appreciate a special interest.

As a parent, I often use those special interests as motivation. Last night, my son ate off a creeper paper plate. My husband renamed "Mac and cheese" as "macaroni and Steve." This resulted in our son licking Mac and cheese for the first time.

This evening, I convinced my son to not JUST eat "square cereal" by cutting his toast into a creeper face.

We use a Mario toothbrush,
Mario toothpaste, and a Mario toothbrushing video to get him to engage in brushing his teeth.

And then sometimes we just play. Even if I have to wear a sensory nightmare of a stick on mustache.

We look forward to seeing you there!

🌿 Something new is coming to Hixson Farms...

We've been thinking about how we can make the farm a place that more families can enjoy—especially families who may not always feel comfortable at crowded, loud, or fast-paced events.

So we're excited to introduce Hixson Farms Sensory Night. ❤️

Beginning this fall, we'll open the farm on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30–7:00 PM for a quieter, slower-paced evening designed with neurodiverse and sensory-sensitive families in mind.

Every Sensory Night will follow the same simple routine:

🐮 Arrival → Animal Time → Farm Activity → Quiet Time → Goodbye

The activity may change each month, but the routine won't. Attendance will be limited to keep groups small, there won't be loud music or announcements, and we'll have a quiet sensory space available whenever someone needs a break.

And most importantly—there's no pressure to participate.

Want to do the craft? Great.
Want to feed the goats? Great.
Want to spend half the evening brushing a fluffy cow? Also great. ❤️

We want kids and families to experience the farm in whatever way works best for them.

Family admission will be $35 for up to 5 people, including animal feed and the monthly activity/craft.

We'll also be introducing our Jacob's Friends Membership, which will allow families to make Sensory Night part of their regular monthly routine. More about that very soon. ❤️

Our first Sensory Night is coming up, and we can't wait to welcome you to the farm.

Quiet. Predictable. No pressure. Just come as you are.
