There is something about the grief of a child that touches the deepest parts of our hearts. It is pure, innocent, and honest—a little heart trying to understand why someone they love can no longer be here.

Sometimes it comes through tears. Sometimes it is a simple question, a flower held in a tiny hand, or a whispered “I love you.” Sometimes it is a quiet moment of missing someone in the middle of play. Children may not have the words to explain their hurt, but their love speaks so clearly.

In those moments, we see how much a person meant. We are reminded that the smallest things—a familiar voice, a lap to sit in, a hand to hold, or a favorite tradition—can leave the biggest spaces when someone is gone.

May we always make room for their questions, listen to their memories, and reassure them that it is okay to cry, to laugh, and to keep talking about the person they love.

Even the smallest hearts carry a love that lasts a lifetime.
