No one talks about the nervous system withdrawal that can happen after narcissistic abuse. You’re not just grieving the person. You’re coming off the adrenaline. The highs. The crashes. The proving. The waiting. The constant scanning for the next emotional shift. So, when peace finally arrives it may not feel peaceful at first. It may feel boring. Empty. Unfamiliar. Even unsafe. That doesn’t mean you miss the chaos. It means your body is learning a new baseline. Calm may feel strange when survival used to feel like love. Follow if you’re learning to feel safe without the chaos.

Sometimes anxiety is not the enemy. When you’re in a narcissistic or emotionally abusive relationship, your nervous system may stay on high alert no matter how many tools you utilize. Breathing helps. Grounding helps. But, if your body keeps sounding the alarm, it may not be because you’re “too anxious.” It may because something really is off. Healing isn’t always about calming yourself down. Sometimes healing begins when you finally believe what your body has been trying to tell you.

Sometimes life changes the plan just when you were beginning to make peace with it.
That can feel defeating.
But surrender is not the same as giving up.
Surrender is releasing the illusion that you were ever meant to control every outcome.
Save this if you’re being asked to trust what you cannot control.

Not every anxious feeling needs to be fixed, reframed, or turned into productivity. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is stop fighting the sensation long enough to actually hear it. Anxiety is energy. When we shame it, suppress it, or immediately try to “use it,” it often gets louder. Feel it. Name it. Breathe with it. Let it pass. That’s not spiraling. That’s emotional processing.

Some of your most beautiful qualities may have kept you stuck longer than you deserved. Being forgiving. Being patient. Seeing the best in people. Not giving up easily. Those are not flaws. But, in the wrong hands, they become the very thing someone exploits. Healing isn’t becoming cold. It’s learning that your empathy deserves discernment. Your loyalty deserves reciprocity. And, your forgiveness does not require unlimited access to you.

You were never weak. You were protecting yourself. But, survival mode can start to feel like identity after a while; the guardedness, overthinking, emotional armor, and constant bracing. Soft power is what happens when you stop mistaking protection for personality. You can be warm and boundaried. Gentle and powerful. Open and discerning. Soft and impossible to manipulate. That is healing. Follow for soft power healing, nervous system safety, and becoming the woman survival mode tried to bury.

We’re wired to search for meaning after something traumatic. But, when the answer doesn’t come… We default to feeling powerless. That doesn’t mean we are “powerless.” Sometimes the shift isn’t in understanding what happened, it’s in recognizing who you became because of it. Not everything happens for a reason. But, you can still choose what it becomes.

You don’t need a dramatic story for your nervous system to register danger. Sometimes the moments that almost happened, stay longer than the ones that did. If you’ve ever felt something like this - More alert, more aware, maybe even questioning everything… You’re not imaging it. Your body is trying to protect you. And it can learn to feel safe again.

That version of you that you question every month? She’s not the truth. She’s your nervous system under pressure. Hygge = safety, not escape. And safety changes everything! Save this for the luteal days. Follow for more.

Acute stress doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like functioning, while your body is still bracing. There’s a gap between what you handled and what your nervous system processed. The gap is where the work is.
