One of the things I love most about being part of the North Fork Breast Health Coalition is seeing the people and businesses who continue to show up year after year...

Kleinfeld Bridal has done exactly that.

They have been one of our top sponsors for many years, supported our Pink Pearl Gala, and generously donated T-shirts and hats for Team Kleinfeld walkers along the way.

Support like this helps us keep showing up for breast cancer patients, survivors and thrivers right here in our community.

A huge thank you to Ronnie Rothstein, Mara Urshel and the entire Kleinfeld team for continuing to stand behind a cause that means so much to me. I’m truly grateful for all they have done over the years.

And yes, Team Kleinfeld is back again this year. 💗

DM me or call 653-5314 for more information. I’d love to have you walk with us.

I grew up listening to Dolly.

Of course I loved the music, but I also loved her. Her humor. Her warmth. Her faith. Her inspirational little nuggets of wisdom. And that unmistakable giggle that somehow made you smile right along with her.

She always seemed completely comfortable being exactly who she was.

And I think that’s one of the reasons this quote has always felt so very Dolly.

The older I get, the more I appreciate it too.

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”

There’s something powerful about knowing what matters to you, trusting your instincts and building a life around the things that genuinely feel meaningful.

I feel incredibly lucky that I found that in the work I do.

Listening to people’s stories. Asking the extra question. Looking for the connections that might have been missed. Helping someone feel a little better, a little stronger or a little more hopeful than when they walked through my door.

Twenty-five years later, I still love what I do.

Today I’m remembering Dolly not only for the incredible music she gave us, but for the kindness, laughter, generosity and wisdom she shared along the way.

And yes, I’ll always hear that giggle. 💗

Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for reminding all of us to be exactly who we are...and to do it on purpose.

The thing you almost didn’t tell me? Tell me.

“I know this probably has nothing to do with it, but…”

You’d be surprised how often what comes next matters.

Maybe your headaches started around the same time your periods changed.

Your digestion hasn’t been the same since you had COVID.

The pain moves around and nobody can quite explain why.

You’re exhausted, but every test keeps coming back “normal.”

Or there’s just something that feels off and you can’t quite put your finger on it.

Tell me that part.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is figuring out how the pieces of someone’s story fit together. After 25+ years in practice, I’ve learned not to dismiss the details that don’t seem to fit neatly into a box.

Sometimes I’m thinking acupuncture.

Sometimes Chinese herbs.

Sometimes functional medicine or FSM.

And sometimes what you tell me leads to five more questions before I’m thinking about treatment at all.

So tell me the whole story. I’m a details girl and I love to play detective. 🔎

Sometimes that little detail you almost left out is the one that changes what I ask next.

Have you ever started a sentence at an appointment with, “This probably has nothing to do with it, but…”?

Happy Sunday, everyone 🩷

Did you actually take that breath?

If not, go back and do it. We'll wait.

Life has a way of pulling us in a hundred different directions. Before we know it, we're rushing from one thing to the next without ever checking in with ourselves.

Today, let this be your reminder that it's okay to pause.

🩷 Take a deep breath.

🩷 Relax your shoulders.

🩷 Unclench your jaw.

🩷 Let yourself arrive in this moment.

Sometimes, the smallest pause is all it takes to reset your mind and change the direction of your day.

We're so glad you stopped here with us.

If you took that breath, leave a 🩷 in the comments. You might inspire someone else to pause today, too.

"The less you eat out of a box. The healthier you will always be..."

Here's why 👇

Do not eat these. Discard immediately if you recognize any of these in yours or a loved one’s kitchen, it’s the easiest act of love you can do for them today.

A French study in PLOS Medicine examined the impact of emulsifiers (food additives used to improve texture and extend shelf life) on cancer risk.

Researchers analyzed data from 92,000 adults over nearly 7 years and found that certain emulsifiers significantly increased cancer risk:

Mono & diglycerides of fatty acids (E471)—found in processed baked goods, margarine, and ice cream—were linked to:
15% higher risk of overall cancer
24% higher risk of breast cancer
46% higher risk of prostate cancer

Carrageenan (E407 & E407a)—a thickening agent in dairy alternatives, deli meats, and plant-based products—was linked to:

32% higher risk of breast cancer.

Cancer is complex and multifactorial, but one thing is certain: the food we eat plays a massive role in shaping our long-term health. Cutting out ultra-processed foods and focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods is one of the most powerful steps you can take to reduce disease risk.

Lately I have been doing a little soul searching. And honestly it feels good.

I think there is something really powerful about knowing yourself. Not perfectly. Not completely. But enough to own what lights you up and what absolutely does not. Enough to stop apologizing for either one.

So here I am.

I am passionate about the word WHY. Always have been. I need to understand the root of things. In medicine. In life. In people. Surface level has never been enough for me and I stopped pretending otherwise a long time ago.

I love learning. Genuinely love it. Most of my books are health related and I would not have it any other way. I am energized by like minded people, deep conversations and colleagues who push me to think differently.

I love a quiet peaceful morning. Prayer and gratitude first. Yes in the shower. And, yes, it counts. Then a savory warm breakfast. Then coffee. Then the world.

I love an early dinner. Black is always the right outfit choice. Pink is a very close second. I take my magnesium daily and I believe deeply in less is more for most things.

I am not a cold plunge person. Not a chocolate person. Not a dessert person. I will try any food on the planet except anything with a bone. That is a hard no.

I come home every day to the most unconditional love. Two dogs. Two cats. Three rescue cats. Every single one of their names begins with the letter M. Except Peewee. Peewee has never followed a rule in his life and honestly I respect it. 🐾

I believe in kindness always. In laughter as medicine. In starting small and building momentum. I am still working on balance. Still learning to receive as much as I give. Still putting more vacations on the calendar and actually keeping them there. That is the work of 2026 and I am showing up for it.

I have a strong faith. I believe I am always being guided and protected. Women's intuition is no joke. I have it and am finally learning to trust it.

What I know for certain is this. I am deeply passionate about what I do. I am in awe of the human body every single day. And I care, genuinely & wholeheartedly, about the people who trust me with their health. That part I have always known 💖💖

Grateful to be part of such an amazing organization...

"Help when you can, because you can..." 💖💖

She didn't wait to be asked. She just showed up. For 22 years before joining the board.

Meet Dr. Michelle Iona, Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, IFM-trained Functional Medicine practitioner, and founder of Healing Points Acupuncture & Wellness Center in Riverhead, is driven by one belief:

"Help when you can, because you can."

💖 For Dr. Iona, that belief runs deep. She lost two dear friends to breast cancer, and those losses became part of why she shows up, year after year, with everything she has.

💖 She showed up as a proud Pink Pearl Gala sponsor, rallying her network to donate gift baskets for our raffle. She shows up every year at our Annual 5K Walk, leading the team with energy, glamour, and heart to a morning that means everything to our survivors and thrivers.

"When you lose people you love to this disease, sitting on the sidelines is not an option."

After all those years, she joined our board as an At-Large Director.

And honestly?

We should have asked sooner.

💖 With 25+ years serving the East End, her specialty in integrative cancer support means her work and her mission are one and the same. Her oncology acupuncture training at deepened her expertise in supporting patients through every stage of treatment, because whole-person care isn't optional.

💖 We honored her with our Community Spirit Award at the 2024 Pink Pearl Gala, a recognition long overdue.

💖 As a featured expert at our Integrative Approaches to Cancer Care Conference, she helps patients understand they don't have to choose between conventional and complementary therapies. They can have both.

💖 One more thing. If you've ever smiled at one of our posts, felt inspired by a story we shared, or found us when you needed us most?

There's a good chance that was Dr. Iona too.

She manages our social media with the same quiet dedication she brings to everything else.

24 years and counting. MSK-trained. Gala sponsor. Community Spirit Award. Our social media voice. Board member.

That's not just dedication.

That's love. 💕

Thank you, Dr. Iona. This community is healthier and more connected because of you 💖

Mother’s Day looks a little different the older you get

When you’re younger, you think it’s flowers, brunch, and badly wrapped gifts from the school book fair 🙃

Then life happens.

🌸 You realize some women are celebrating.
🌸 Some are still waiting.
🌸 Some are missing their moms.
🌸 Some are becoming mothers in ways nobody sees.
🌸 Some are the “mom” friend to literally everyone around them.
🌸 And some women spend the whole day saying “I’m fine” when their heart feels a little tender.

So today feels less about perfection… and more about love.

🌸 The kind that shows up.
🌸 The kind that sacrifices.
🌸 The kind that keeps going.
🌸 The kind that hopes anyway.

To every version of motherhood and every woman carrying love in her heart today…

Happy Mother’s Day ladies!

Dr. Michelle
