Supporting 32 residential homes for those living with developmental, intellectual and mental health disabilities since 1984.

Family members of the developmentally disabled established ADD in 1980. These family members were concerned about the physical and emotional decline of patients compelled to live in crowded institutions where the care was custodial and the staffing and programming insufficient and inadequate. These family members were convinced that appropriate treatment and training in a warm, sheltered, homelike

environment would enhance their physical and emotional growth. In March of 1984 Aid to the Developmentally Disabled opened its first residential program. It is located in the hamlet of Northville, Riverhead, Long Island. As a result of the initial success in Northville, ADD rapidly grew into a multi service organization. Providing residential programs, supported apartments, clinical supports and case management services to developmentally disabled adults and those with mental challenges on Long Island’s East End.

The Peconic River was filled with creativity, teamwork, and plenty of fun at this year's Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race! 🚣🦖👽

Our Su***de Prevention Program (SPP) proudly participated with an out-of-this-world cardboard boat featuring dinosaurs and aliens; and we're thrilled to share that our team paddled away with 2nd Place! 🏆

Congratulations also to our incredible Community Outreach Specialist, Eric Van Deusen , who earned the Best Captain award for leading our crew with enthusiasm and spirit! 👏

We're proud of our participants who built and decorated the boat themselves and worked together to secure second place.

Events like these remind us that building
community, encouraging creativity, and making meaningful connections can have a lasting impact. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on; we're already looking forward to next year's race! 💙

🦈As we close out Shark Week, we can't help but look back at one of our favorite events of the year!

Thank you to our event partner People's Arc of Suffolk as well as every participant, sponsor, donor, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this year's Shark Tank Showdown such a memorable success. From the excitement of the shark dives to the generosity of our community, every moment helped support individuals with developmental disabilities through Rise Life Services.
