Through fellowship, creativity, relaxation, and wellness-focused experiences, Wellness Wednesday serves as a weekly reminder that every stage of life deserves purpose, dignity, vitality, and joy.

Wellness Wednesday brought about hand spa treatment! We soaked, lotioned and relaxed while our hands got soft and smooth. Sometimes wellness is simply about treating yourself gently and doing things that feel good.

"My dad went to Acadia from the hospital after having heart surgery. Dad loved being at Acadia he was treated like a celebrity. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They keep residents happy and provide recreation and entertainment for the residents. Acadia is not a large facility and because of its size the residents receive the attention they require. Thank you Acadia and thank you to the staff at Acadia." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

According to the American Art Therapy Association, Art Therapy is a great opportunity to use the creative process in support of mental health, cognitive functions, and building emotional resilience. We agree and it's a perfect Wellness Wednesday Activity! 🎶

Each week we work to inspire one another, and engage in meaningful activities that promote health, happiness and overall well-being. Art Therapy is an important part of rehabilitation- just as much as PT or OT! We paint, sing, dance, play music, and try all sorts of creative endeavors.

We envision a welcoming environment where each resident feels valued, empowered, and inspired to engage in activities that promote health, happiness, and overall well-being.

This Wellness Wednesday we are diving into Aromatherapy 👃 The nose KNOWS that scent can often alleviate stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality, reduce nausea, and even boost mood and cognitive well-being. We sampled the smell of different essential oils like lavender for calming and lemon for energy!

BINGO! 💥 A fan favorite around here - who doesn't love the on-edge excitement of needing just one more number? Winners received handmade pillows as well as stuffed animals, all from the Cherry Ave Elementary School, Sayville Art Club and one of our entertainers Jim Papa. We're always thankful for outside support from the community to help us add an extra layer of fun and excitement to the programming.

We envision a welcoming environment where each resident feels valued, empowered, and inspired to engage in activities that promote health, happiness, and overall well-being.

Concentration is not only a valuable skill, but can help decrease stress by re-focusing the mind. We played a cup stacking concentration game to stay nimble AND quick, plus it called for a little bit of luck and a lot of laughs when the stacks eventually fell. What a fun Wellness Wednesday!
