Join us for the 2026 Go Blue Awards Luncheon! 🌊💙

On October 30th, as we come together at the Kravis Center to celebrate the changemakers who are making a meaningful difference for our ocean and its future. From inspiring conservation efforts and environmental leadership to the next generation of ocean advocates, the Go Blue Awards recognize those turning their passion for our blue planet into lasting impact.

This year’s event will also feature special guest speaker Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza, marine biologist, shark conservation leader, and recipient of the 2026 Eleanor Fletcher Lifetime Achievement Award.

Be part of this special celebration of ocean conservation and the people behind it. Secure your spot through the link in the comment section! 🌊

Meet Ghost, a juvenile green sea turtle receiving care at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. 🐢💙

Ghost was found washed ashore in Delray Beach entangled in a ghost net alongside a shark. Upon arrival, our team discovered multiple deep wounds to Ghost’s left front flipper, which are suspected to have been caused by the shark. Ghost is now receiving specialized treatment from our veterinary team, including wound care, regional limb perfusion and antibiotics to support the healing process.

Ghost’s story is an important reminder of the dangers abandoned and lost fishing gear can pose to marine life. Every piece of debris removed from our ocean can make a difference for the animals that call it home. 🌊

Need Labor Day plans? ☀️ Spend part of your day with us at Loggerhead Marinelife Center! 🐢

This is your reminder that LMC will remain open during our normal hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Labor Day. Stop by, visit our sea turtle patients, and enjoy a day by the ocean with us!

And wherever your Labor Day weekend takes you, remember to make ocean safe decisions. Go Slow for Those Below, pick up your trash, secure loose items, and keep an eye out for marine life. The choices you make on and around the water directly affect the wildlife that calls it home. 🌊

The beginning of a very big journey. 🐢

Did you know sea turtle hatchlings that have been in rehabilitation for more than 24 hours have already used the energy from their initial “swimming frenzy,” the burst of swimming that begins when they first enter the ocean?

Because of this, and following FWC guidelines, Loggerhead Marinelife Center ensures these hatchlings are taken by boat at least five miles offshore for release. They are placed on or near sargassum, where they can find food and shelter as they begin life at sea. 💙

If you find a disoriented or distressed hatchling, call FWC at 1-888-404-FWCC (3922) or LMC’s 24-hour Sea Turtle Rescue Line at 561-603-0211. Hatchlings can also be brought to our 24-hour hatchling drop-off cooler located at the front entrance of the Center.

Wishing these little ones safe travels ahead. 🌊

All marine turtle images taken in Florida were obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to this or other turtles. Images were acquired while conducting authorized activities pursuant to FWC MTP 086.

Filbert has entered the chat. 🐢💙

This juvenile green sea turtle arrived at Loggerhead Marinelife Center after being found entangled in fishing line with a flipper injury, ingested fishing line, and fibropapillomatosis (FP) tumors. Since then, he’s received continued care from our veterinary team, including the removal of several FP tumors.

And as you can see, Filbert has certainly worked up an appetite along the way! 🥬

Filbert is symbolically adoptable! Your adoption helps support the care and rehabilitation of sea turtle patients like him. Become part of Filbert’s journey through a symbolic adoption on our website! 🌊

While we’ve had a record-breaking season for loggerhead sea turtles, on the first day of meteorological fall, were SHELL-ebrating a major milestone! 🐢 🎉

We’ve officially surpassed 18,000 total sea turtle nests recorded on our 8.5-mile beach this season!

What an incredible season it has been - and we’re so grateful to everyone who has helped protect these amazing sea turtles along the way. 💚
