Over the past several months, many of you have reached out to ask how I've been doing and if I would ever be returning to massage therapy. First, I want to thank you for your patience, your support, and for thinking of me. It has meant more than I can express.
I wanted to give everyone an honest update on where things currently stand.
In June, I attended my Informal Conference with the Virginia Board. Following that meeting, I was advised that it could take approximately 33 to 60 days to receive the outcome. I have now received that decision and am currently in the process of meeting the requirements needed to reactivate my massage license. (But I am getting it back!!! *dance party*)
As for what comes next... the honest answer is, I don't know just yet.
I do know that I want massage to remain a part of my life. Caring for people has never stopped being something I love. What I don't know yet is what my practice will look like moving forward.
Since closing my office, I no longer have a brick-and-mortar location. My hope is to eventually find a space similar to what I had before, or ideally create a space of my own. Rather than rushing into the first opportunity, I'm taking the time to determine what the next chapter of my practice will look like.
Until I have a dedicated space again, I will not be offering in-home or mobile massage services. I know some of you may wonder if that's an option, but it isn't a direction I plan to pursue. My goal is to return in a professional setting that allows me to provide the quality of care and experience you've come to expect.
In the meantime, I'm working two jobs and focusing on building a strong foundation before I reopen. The past year has also brought some unexpected life changes, and while those are personal and I'm choosing to keep them private, they have naturally influenced the pace of this journey.
Because of all of this, reopening will be a gradual process rather than something that happens overnight. If I'm being honest, it may not happen this year, and I don't want to promise a timeline that I can't guarantee.
I know many of you are patiently waiting, and I truly cannot express how much that means to me. Please know that I appreciate every message and every person who has checked in. For now, the greatest support you can give me is simply your patience and understanding. I kindly ask that you not reach out for timelines or reopening dates, not because I don't appreciate your excitement, but because I genuinely don't have those answers yet. As soon as I have meaningful news to share, you'll hear it directly from me.
One thing I do know for certain is that I haven't forgotten about my clients, and I haven't walked away from this profession. I'm simply taking the time to rebuild in a way that is thoughtful, sustainable, and allows me to provide the level of care you've always deserved.
When the time comes, my existing clients will be the first to hear from me and will have the opportunity to schedule before I open appointments to the public. It's my way of saying thank you for the trust, loyalty, and patience you've shown me over the years.
Thank you again for your kindness, your patience, and for standing by me through this chapter. Your encouragement has meant more than you know, and I look forward to the day I can welcome you back to my table.
With gratitude
