Oscar Lewis Hancock, affectionately known to family and friends as "Lewis," was the firstborn of four children born to the late Elsie Smith Hancock and Warren McKinley Hancock. He was born on August 1, 1945, in Roanoke, Virginia. Lewis lived life on his own terms, embracing it with independence, determination, and few regrets. He peacefully transitioned to his eternal home on July 23, 2026.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church of the Apostolic Faith, 5 12th Street SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Mr. Lewis Allen Hayden went to be with the Lord and reunited with his loving wife, Deloris. He was surrounded by family at his home on July 20, 2026. He was a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and a graduate of Lucy Addison High School, Class of 1958. He served in the United States Army and attended barbering school and the University of Connecticut in Bridgeport.

A public viewing will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Spirit of Life Church International, 3428 Plantation Road NE, Roanoke, VA. Live Streaming will be available from the Hamlar-Curtis website. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park.
