Who knew a few Q-tips, some paint, and a little creativity could turn into something so SWEET?! 🍁🧡💛

Our talented residents had a blast creating the most adorable candy corn paintings! A little dabbing here, a little dotting there, and voilà — masterpieces almost good enough to eat! 😍

🍻🥨 PROST! Oktoberfest at Emery Place! 🎶🍂

Barefoot Becky was in the house earlier this week, and boy, did she put on a show! 🎤💃

We tapped our toes, raised our beers, munched on some delicious cheese and pretzels, and danced the afternoon away! From the lively music to the laughter and smiles, our Oktoberfest celebration was one for the books! 🍺🧀🥨

Good music, great friends, tasty treats, and a whole lot of dancing… now THAT'S how you celebrate Oktoberfest! 🍁🎶

☕❤️ A Little Caffeine, A Lot of Appreciation! ❤️☕

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to celebrate National Medical Assistants Day with a little extra love (and caffeine)! 🥤

While the day recognizes medical assistants, we took it as the perfect opportunity to say THANK YOU to all of our incredible team members who do so much for our residents and for one another each and every day!

And who better to deliver that thank-you than our residents themselves?! ❤️

Our residents made their rounds, handing out delicious caffeinated beverages and sharing a personal thank-you with the hardworking people who help make Emery Place feel like home.

Sometimes the smallest gestures bring the biggest smiles! 😊

Our friends at That One Cupcake Place surprised us yet again with some incredible made-from-scratch cupcakes, adding an extra sprinkle of sweetness to our afternoon! 🧁💕

There were plenty of laughs, a little friendly competition, and lots of happy taste buds around the Farkle table!

🍫 OOEY, GOOEY, AND OH SO GOOD! 😋

Our Blanchard Baking Club was back at it earlier this week, whipping up a batch of delicious, ooey-gooey scotcheroos! 👩‍🍳🍪

A little messy? Absolutely! Worth every sticky finger? YOU BET! 🙌 Sometimes the messiest treats turn out to be the sweetest, especially when they're made with great company, lots of laughter, and a little extra love! ❤️

📝 (Fun note from the editor: I can personally attest that these were DELICIOUS! Of course, I had to sample multiple pieces, strictly for quality control purposes, to make sure the scotcheroo bars from BOTH sides of the pan were equally as delicious. I'm happy to report that both sides passed with flying colors! 😂🍫)

💚 An Incredible Opportunity for Emery Place! 💚

We are so excited to share that Sara and Michael were honored to be chosen for scholarships and attend the Iowa Assisted Living Association Convention!

Today, they had the privilege of listening to a presentation by Dr. Joshua Freitas, PhD, and this is only the beginning of an incredible journey!

Over the coming months, Sara and Michael will participate in four specialized classes, along with one-on-one exam preparation and mentorship with Dr. Freitas, before sitting for their exams to become Board Certified Dementia Trainers! 🧠💚

This opportunity is about so much more than earning another certification. It’s about expanding our knowledge, strengthening the care we provide, and becoming an even greater resource for our residents, their families, our incredible staff, and fellow senior living professionals.

Dementia care is not just about understanding a diagnosis. It’s about understanding the person behind it, preserving dignity, supporting families, and empowering those who provide care every single day.

We are incredibly grateful for this scholarship and the opportunity to bring even more education, compassion, and expertise back to our Emery Place family and Better Living Team.

Because when we continue to learn, we continue to grow. And when we grow, the people we care for benefit most. 💚

Our Craft Club has been getting extra crafty! 🦇🤣

With a little creativity, a whole lot of laughter, and some seriously silly faces, our residents turned ordinary bats into some SPOOK-tacular masterpieces! 🎨🖤

Some bats were spooky, some were goofy, and others were just downright adorable! But one thing's for sure... we had a FANG-tastic time making them! 🧛‍♂️✨

🌟💐 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT! 💐🌟

Please help us congratulate Serenity, our October Employee of the Month at Emery Place! 💚

Serenity is one of our amazing Culinary Aides, but the love and care she brings to our community go far beyond the dining room!

Serenity knows our residents, not just their names, but their favorite foods, their likes and dislikes, and all the little things that make them smile. ❤️

You can often find Serenity sitting with residents, sharing stories, laughing, and genuinely enjoying their company. She even volunteers her own time to spend with our residents because, to Serenity, they aren’t just people she serves. They’re family. 🏡

It’s those little moments, the conversations, the extra time, and the genuine connections, that make the biggest difference in our residents’ lives.

Serenity is a beautiful example of what makes Emery Place so special. It’s not just about the job we do, but the hearts we bring to it every single day.
