On second thought, maybe it is your THYROID!!!
If you have the following symptoms you may have THYROID DYSFUNCTION even if you don't have hypothyroidism. FATIGUE, WEIGHT GAIN, CONSTIPATION, TEMPERATURE INTOLERANCE ( feeling cold all of the time), DRY SKIN, LOSS OR THINNING OF HAIR. Some of these symptoms are caused by lots of other things, BUT if your thyroid gland isn't producing enough Free T3 ( active thyroid hormone), it can definitely be a contributing factor. Thing is, we as physicians, are taught to look at TSH and not Free T3...EVEN THOUGH T3 IS THE ACTIVE FORM OF THYROID HORMONE. In addition to that, Free T3 needs to be in an OPTIMAL range, not just in the "normal range". And if that doesn't blow you mind, get this...IF YOU ARE ON LEVOTHYROXINE, (in addition to a recent recall), you are getting inactive Free T4. The problem with this is that levothyroxine down regulates the enzyme that converts Free T4 to Free T3 and up regulates the enzyme that converts Free T4 to reverse T3 which essentially blocks Free T3 from doing its job!!! So, if you are having the symptoms mentioned above, come in and let's talk about the ROOT CAUSE and see if you would benefit from optimizing treatment of HYPOTHYROIDISM OR THYROID DYSFUNCTION.
