It is not uncommon for Hospice care to be mistaken for Home Health care, despite distinct differences in their objectives. While we do provide care in-home, our primary focus is on enhancing quality of life, whereas Home Health care prioritizes rehabilitation and fostering independence. Although there are similarities in care, some patients may benefit from an additional round of Home Health before transitioning to Hospice, whereas others may not be emotionally prepared to make the move to Hospice Care. We value our partnerships with local Home Health companies, collaborating to ensure our community members receive care that aligns with their individual goals.

Our objective is to provide support without intrusion, offering a 24/7 phone line for patients and caregivers to address questions, concerns, and urgent needs at any time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, ensuring our patients receive the necessary guidance to remain comfortable and safe in their own homes.

A little shoutout to some of our furry team members, Stella & Gidget! Stella helps hold down the fort in our office by taking notes and naps, while Gidget hits the field with our Spiritual Counselor to help provide support to those in need.

Happy to all of our furry friends. Animal-Assisted Therapy has been shown to lower stress, decrease depression, feelings of loneliness, and boost moods. We gladly welcome furry/feathered friends to come join our volunteer team to boost patient morale!🐶🐱🐰🐥

Waiting to register until an emergency is actively occurring could leave registrants off the list. City/County Governments usually print a final report days prior to landfall of expected emergency. If you or someone will need assistance during an emergency call 2-1-1 now to ensure their ability to receive help.

Our staff monitors the weather closely, especially during hurricane season to ensure our patients have the help they need in sheltering safely or evacuating as needed.

If you or someone you know has a disability, make sure you have a support network of people who can help during an emergency, such as a hurricane.

If someone you know has a communication disability, have them carry printed cards or save information on their devices to inform first responders and others how to communicate with them.

Most importantly, consider registering for STEAR (State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry). You can register for free every year in the fall or spring if you need assistance evacuating during a disaster or emergency due to a disability. Please note: You cannot register during an active emergency. Also, the STEAR program does not guarantee that you will receive a specific service during emergencies. When our intake team is sitting down with families, oftentimes they get to the end of their explanation and are hit with a question that goes something like this: " That all sounds great, but I don't think we can afford it.

One of my greatest joys is simply smiling and telling the families the best part, it's all FREE! Seeing the relief in their eyes, that help is on the way, and that help is covered under Medicare Part A at 100%, erases any long/bad day that I have had every time. It wasn't until 1983 that Congress implemented the Medicare Hospice Benefit to alleviate the burden families and patients experienced in acquiring much-needed care following a diagnosis of a life-shortening illness. For most patients, usually those with Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicaid, TriWest HCA, and even some commercial plans (once out-of-pocket is met), Hospice Care is covered at 100%. That includes the care, medications, equipment, and supplies!

There are many benefits to Hospice Care. Aside from the well-known nursing care many are suprised to find that their insurance pays for medical equipment (such as walker, wheelchair, shower chairs, etc.) and supplies (such as wipes, diapers/pull-ups, rash cream, wound care supplies, bed pads, etc.). On top of those many benefits, Hospice cares for the caregiver by providing support via a social worker and spiritual counselor. Our clinical team's goal, aside from managing pain and symptoms, is to ensure the caregiver for the patient has the skills and understanding needed to safely and confidently care for the patient at home. There are many benefits to receiving hospice care. If you have questions, our team is ready to provide that education to you and help you start this new chapter in your healthcare journey.
