β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™ September 11 β€” We Will Never Forget β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

Today, we pause to remember.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. We remember the first responders, healthcare workers, service members, volunteers, and everyday citizens who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also remember how, in the days that followed, people reached out to one another with kindness, generosity, and a shared sense of community.

May we honor those we lost not only by remembering their names and their stories, but also by carrying forward the spirit of compassion, service, courage, and caring for one another.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, our hearts are with the families who continue to carry the memories of their loved ones and with all whose lives were forever changed that day.

❀️ We remember.
🀍 We honor.
πŸ’™ We will never forget.

πŸ’› World Su***de Prevention Day πŸ’›

Today, the Family Planning Team joins communities around the world in reminding everyone of one important message:

Your life matters. Your story matters. And asking for help is okay. πŸ’›

Mental health is part of our overall health. Sometimes the people who are struggling the most may not show it on the outside. A phone call, a text, a conversation, or simply asking, β€œAre you okay?” can open the door for someone who needs support.

Take time today to:
πŸ’› Check in on the people you love
πŸ’› Listen without judgment
πŸ’› Take concerns about su***de seriously
πŸ’› Encourage someone who is struggling to seek professional help
πŸ’› Remind others that they don't have to face difficult moments alone

And don't forget to check in with yourself, too. Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate life-threatening emergency, call 911.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, let's continue building a community where it's okay to talk about mental health, okay to ask for help, and where we take care of one another. πŸ’›

One conversation. One connection. One moment of kindness. It can make a difference.

πŸ’™πŸ€ International Day of Charity πŸ€πŸ’™

Today is a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a BIG difference. ❀️

Charity isn't always about giving money. It can be giving your time, talents, compassion, encouragement, or simply lending a helping hand to someone who needs it.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we see the power of caring for others every day. We are grateful for the organizations, community partners, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and neighbors who work together to make our communities healthier and stronger.

You can make a difference today by:
πŸ’™ Checking on a neighbor
πŸ’™ Donating to a local organization
πŸ’™ Volunteering your time
πŸ’™ Supporting a family in need
πŸ’™ Sharing resources with someone who could use them
πŸ’™ Simply choosing kindness

Strong communities are built when we take care of one anotherβ€”and sometimes the greatest gift we can give is letting someone know they matter.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, thank you to everyone who gives their time, resources, talents, and hearts to make South Texas a better place to call home. πŸ’™

Give when you can. Help where you can. Be kind whenever you can. 🀝❀️

πŸ’œ Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month πŸ’œ

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and the Family Planning Team is reminding women that knowing your body, recognizing changes, and keeping up with preventive healthcare can make a difference.

Gynecologic cancers include cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus/endometrium, va**na, and v***a. Symptoms can vary, so it's important to pay attention when something doesn't feel normal for YOU.

Talk with a healthcare provider if you experience persistent or unusual symptoms such as:

πŸ’œ Abnormal va**nal bleeding or discharge
πŸ’œ Pelvic pain or pressure
πŸ’œ Abdominal bloating or swelling
πŸ’œ Changes in bathroom habits
πŸ’œ Persistent itching, burning, pain, or changes to the v***a
πŸ’œ Pain during s*x

Don't ignore changes in your body or put off your preventive care.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we're proud to provide important women's health services, including cervical cancer screening and HPV testing when appropriate. Our Breast and Cervical Cancer Services Program is available at all of our clinic locations to help eligible women access important screening services.

πŸ’œ And don't forget about HPV vaccination! HPV vaccination can help prevent the types of HPV that cause most cervical cancers and several other cancers.

Early detection matters. Prevention matters. YOU matter. πŸ’œ

πŸ“ž Call your local Family Planning Clinic to schedule your well-woman visit or learn more about available screening services. Walk-ins are welcome!

πŸ’œ International Overdose Awareness Day πŸ’œ

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, acknowledge the grief of the families and friends left behind, and remind our community that overdose can happen to anyoneβ€”and every life is worth saving.

Overdose awareness is about more than statistics. It's about peopleβ€”our friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones. Compassion, education, and access to resources can make a difference.

Knowing the signs of an overdose and having naloxone (Narcan) available can save a life. And most importantly, seeking help for substance use should never be met with shame or judgment.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, today we encourage our community to:

πŸ’œ Remember those we've lost
πŸ’œ Support those who are grieving
πŸ’œ Learn the signs of an overdose
πŸ’œ Know how and when to use naloxone
πŸ’œ Choose compassion over stigma
πŸ’œ Encourage those struggling to seek help and support

Behind every overdose is a person whose life matters. Todayβ€”and every dayβ€”let's work together to create a community where people feel safe asking for help.

Remember. Educate. Support. Save lives. πŸ’œ

πŸ“’ Heads Up, Friends! πŸ“’

We're pressing pause for one day to sharpen our skills! πŸ“β˜•πŸ§

The Family Planning Clinic will be CLOSED on Friday, August 28 so our team can participate in staff training and education. We're taking the day to learn, grow, and become even better at serving you (don't worryβ€”we promise there won't be a pop quiz for our patients πŸ˜‰).

We'll be back and ready to help during our regular business hours on Monday, August 31.

Thank you for your understanding as we invest in continuing education to provide the best possible care for our community. We look forward to seeing you soon!

πŸ’™ See you Monday!

🐢🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾🐢

Let's be honest... dogs don't care what you look like, how long your to-do list is, or whether you remembered to fold the laundry. They just know you're their favorite human. ❀️

Whether they're stealing your spot on the couch, supervising every snack you eat, insisting on daily walks, or greeting you like you've been gone for years after a 5-minute trip to the mailbox, dogs have a special way of making life healthier and happier.

Did you know? Spending time with your furry best friend can:
🐾 Help reduce stress
🚢 Encourage you to be more active
❀️ Support heart health
😊 Boost your mood
πŸ’™ Remind you to enjoy the little things in life

At the Family Planning Clinic, we know that staying healthy isn't just about doctor's visitsβ€”it's also about taking care of your mind, body, and overall well-being. So today, give your four-legged family member an extra treat, an extra belly rub, or an extra-long walk. (They'll probably convince you they deserve all three!)

And remember... if your dog could schedule your wellness visit for you, they probably would. πŸ•πŸ˜‰

Happy National Dog Day from all of us at the Family Planning Clinic! πŸΎπŸ’™
