An Unassuming Grave Marker For a Larger-Than-Life American. Who Is It For?

Born on this date (May 29) in 1917, this charismatic world leader is buried in Arlington National Cemetery alongside his wife and family members. The simple slate marker and eternal flame stand as one of America’s most powerful symbols of remembrance, sacrifice, and hope. The memorial continues to draw visitors from around the world who pause to reflect on a leader whose vision and legacy still inspire generations. Simple yet deeply moving, the site reminds us that great leadership can leave a lasting light long after a life has ended.

Rome Monument honors John F. Kennedy on his 109th birthday, and remind families around the country that greatness can be remembered by "small packages" such as simple flat bronze or slate markers.

An Everlasting Tribute To Our Military Heroes AND Their Spouses (Also Heroes)

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who served our country with courage, sacrifice, and devotion.

At Rome Monument, we are privileged to help families create lasting tributes that preserve their stories of service and love for generations to come. While the government provides bronze cemetery markers for eligible veterans, it generally does not provide separate markers for their spouses in private cemeteries. Our matching bronze memorial markers are designed to replicate the government issued markers for the veterans’ spouses to go alongside each other for eternity.

There is no military as distinguished as the U.S. Armed Forces…and there are no matching bronze markers as distinguished as those that we make here at Rome Monument. We can’t give anything less than our best to those who have protected our freedoms.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and thank-filled Memorial Day from the staff here at Rome Monument!

Giles Mausoleum Design & Construction Pt. 6: Installing the Mausoleum

After the Giles family is built and delivered to Calvary Cemetery, a large crane is set-up to transfer the main structure of the mausoleum with crypts and columns onto the foundation. The roof is lowered onto the structure and attached, and then the patio piece is set in place and benches placed on top. Four members of the Rome Monument team made the trip to Lafayette, Louisiana, to perform the installation, led by Bill Hapach, co-owner of Rome Monument along with Vince Dioguardi.

Honoring Earth Day With Cemeteries and Monuments

As we celebrate Earth Day, we recognize the role cemeteries play in conservation, recreation, history, and community. They remind us that honoring precious lives can also mean honoring our precious Earth. Until the mid-1800’s, burials took place on urban streetcorners and churchyards. With the need for more space, large plots of land began to be set aside outside the city centers, not only for burials, but as green spaces with trees, gardens, walking paths, and a clean habitat for wildlife to thrive. These were known as rural cemeteries. Today, people of all walks of life enjoy visiting rural cemeteries for their natural beauty alone. Even the monuments, headstones, and mausoleums are made from materials from the earth, and are timeless tributes within these settings.

The folks here at Rome Monument wish all of you a blessed Earth Day…and take some time to get outside today and connect with nature!

Giles Mausoleum Design & Construction Pt. 3: Visiting the Mausoleum Builder

After arriving at a design for their mausoleum, the Giles Family from Lafayette, Louisiana, fly to Pittsburgh to see the Rome Monument facilities. They visit the showroom, the production facility, see the granite warehouse to pick out their stone, and visit a few of the mausoleums Rome has built around the Pittsburgh area. This visit was by no means required-Rome can do everything via technology-but the Giles wanted to make sure Rome was the place for them. (NOTE: It was, thank you.)
