For All You Are, We’re Here for It. A 471-bed community hospital in the town of Greece NY. After a four-year total renovation was completed in 2014, Unity is now the only Monroe County hospital to feature all private patient rooms. Unity offers a broad range of specialty centers including the Golisano Restorative Neurology and Rehabilitation Center; the Charles J. August Joint Replacement Center and the August Family Birth Place. The hospital is also a New York State-designated Stroke Center.

Welcome Vijaya Kankanala, MD to Lipson Cancer Institute at RGH and Unity Hospital! 👋

Dr. Kankanala is an oncologist and hematologist who specializes in gastrointestinal, colon, re**al, gastric, esophageal, pancreatic, biliary, lung, and other cancers. She believes medicine is about more than treating disease - it's about caring for people and supporting them through every step of their journey.

When she’s not at work, you'll find her hiking in nature, cooking flavorful meals for family and friends, and traveling to discover new places. ✈️

We're excited to have Dr. Kankanala join our team and look forward to the compassionate care she'll bring to patients and families navigating their cancer journey.

Protecting young minds, one helmet at a time 🧠🩵

Our Golisano Restorative Neurology & Rehabilitation Team just wrapped up our third annual community helmet drive, donating 100 helmets to local kids to help them stay safe on their bikes. Head injuries are preventable, and helmets are one of the simplest ways to protect growing brains.

With fun, exciting designs, we're hoping kids will be just as excited to wear their helmets as they are to ride their bikes. For safer adventures and healthier futures - We're here for it. 🚲

Stroke Awareness Night with the Rochester Red Wings was one to remember. ⚾

We had the privilege of watching local stroke survivor Marlene Noto throw out the first pitch at Saturday's game. Her husband, Joe, and her RRH care team were right there with her, and her strength was truly inspiring to witness.

Thank you to Marlene and the Red Wings for partnering with us to raise awareness around stroke prevention, recognition, and the importance of acting fast. And a big thank-you to our Neuro & Rehab teams for sharing life-saving education and offering blood pressure screenings to our community.

For moments like these and the resilience of survivors like Marlene, we're here for it. 🩵

Meet Kellie Murray from our Food & Nutrition team - a team member who is a perfect example of how powerful a warm greeting and clear introduction can be.

Whether delivering meal trays or supporting patients in the Transitional Care dining room, Kellie begins every interaction by knocking, introducing herself, using patients' names, and explaining how she can help. She takes a moment to connect: straightening a tray, opening an orange juice, offering reassurance, or simply wishing someone a good day before she leaves.

Those few seconds of connection? They matter. They make patients feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Big news for our Unity Hospital patients, team members, and community! 🏗️

This week, we started construction on major new investments at Unity, expanding the Lipson Cancer Institute and creating a brand‑new outpatient imaging center right on campus, which will include:

✅ Doubled infusion capacity
✅ A dedicated oncology pharmacy
✅ Advanced imaging services all in one place

This $20 million investment in our community means more access, more coordination, and a more supportive experience for patients and families every step of the way.
