🎶 What a treat this week! Our residents enjoyed a delightful ukulele performance that had toes tapping and smiles all around. Music has a special way of bringing people together - thank you to our talented performers for sharing such a joyful afternoon with us! 🌺

🌟 Success Story Spotlight: Joan's Journey at Birch 🌟

Joan, an incredible 87-year-old showed us what true determination looks like! 💪

Joan came to Birch after a hospital stay following a fall, needing significant support with daily activities and unable to walk. It would have been easy to get discouraged - but not Joan. Despite facing health challenges along the way, she has shown up for herself and her therapy team, session after session, with a smile and her best effort.

Since then, Joan's progress has been nothing short of inspiring:

🍽️ She's gone from needing assistance with eating to being fully independent
🚶‍♀️ She's gone from unable to walk to now walking up to 100 feet with her walker
🗣️ Her speech and cognitive skills have improved from moderately impaired to only mildly impaired
🍴 She's progressed from a pureed diet to safely enjoying regular, chopped foods - and her appetite has come roaring back!
👕 She's regained so much independence in dressing and daily self-care

Joan is looking forward to getting out of her cervical collar and continuing to build her strength. Her positive attitude and work ethic have made a real impression on our whole therapy team.

We are so proud of you, Joan - keep shining! ✨

SUCCESS STORY SPOTLIGHT

Birch Healthcare Center would like to congratulate Carlo DeSimone on completing his rehabilitation journey with us - and heading HOME! 🎉

Carlo came to us this spring following a fall related to Parkinson's disease. With grit, determination, and the support of our Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy teams, he made remarkable progress.

The results speak for themselves:

✨ Gained independence with bed mobility and significantly improved his transfers
✨ Increased his walking distance and confidently navigating stairs
✨ Regained independence with dressing and personal hygiene
✨ Improved his cognition, appetite, and returned to eating a regular diet

Carlo's hard work and determination never wavered throughout his stay - and he couldn't wait to get back home!
