With heartfelt appreciation, we thank Sue for the many years she devoted to serving as our administrator. Her care, grace, and commitment have been such an important part of our work, and we are truly grateful for all she has done.

We are also delighted to welcome Paige as our new administrator and clinical intern. We look forward to this new chapter and are so glad to have her join our team.

Big news: A new book co-edited by Daniel Rosen, LCSW, CST and Wendy Miller, PhD, CST -- Innovative Approaches to Out-of-Control S*xual Behavior: Beyond the S*x Addiction Paradigm-- comes out this fall! This forthcoming book brings together experienced clinicians and offers thoughtful, innovative approaches to understanding and treating out-of-control s*xual behavior in a more compassionate, clinically useful way.

We’re proud of Dan’s work and excited for the impact this book will have on clinicians, educators, and anyone interested in s*xual health. Preorders are available on October 22nd through Routledge! https://f.mtr.cool/idsofezofs

“We love each other, but s*x just stopped happening.”
If you work with couples, you’ve probably heard some version of that line before.

A new paper in the Journal of S*xual Medicine looked at marital s*xual inactivity in the United States and Korea. In their study, about 15.6% of married couples in the U.S. report no s*xual activity.

You might assume this decrease in s*xual activity has to do with older age (and you wouldn't be wrong). But that's not all. Couples who spent more time communicating were less likely to report s*xual inactivity and higher family income was also linked to lower s*xual inactivity. Additionally, people with a more promotion-focused style — meaning a tendency toward growth, approach, and moving toward desired outcomes — were more likely to be s*xually engaged.

That feels clinically important to me. S*xual inactivity is rarely about one thing. Time, stress, communication, financial strain, and the broader emotional climate of the relationship all matter.

In other words: when s*x fades, the question is usually not “What’s wrong with this couple?” It’s “What’s been getting in the way?”

We’re so proud to celebrate Erin Davis as she transitions from clinical intern to staff clinician. Over the past year, Erin has been an extraordinary care coordinator and clinical intern — thoughtful, dedicated, and deeply compassionate in all she does. We’re especially grateful for her passion for working with s*xuality, s*xual trauma, and animal care professionals, and we’re excited to support her as she continues her training as a mental health counselor on the path to becoming a s*x therapist.

This next step is so well deserved, and we are honored to have Erin growing with our team.

Congrats to Hannah Paduano on becoming a Certified S*x Therapist! We’re so proud of her work as an art therapist and her training here at RCSW and through the Integrative S*x Therapy Institute - ISTI . She is the 16th Western New York region certified s*xuality professional trained here at RCSW or supervised by Dan Rosen. (Did you know we've gone from a handful of certified s*x therapists in the region before RCSW was founded in 2017 to 21 CSTs, CSCs, and supervisors — what growth for our field and Western NY!)

A healthy life is built from the ground up. 🪵✨

When we talk about wellness and intimacy, we have to talk about the foundation: your body. If you aren't sleeping, eating, or moving in a way that nourishes you, it’s much harder to show up fully in your relationships.

The PLEASE skill from DBT is a simple checklist to help you get back to basics. Swipe through to see how these five daily habits can transform your mood and your connection to yourself and others. *xualwellness
