Dr. Calvin Patten, top left, is our critical care trained EM attending. He completed his EM residency at the U of R, was chief in his 3rd year, graduated and went into Critical Care Fellowship. We are fortune that he wanted to come back and continue his career at the U of R.

As part of our Thursday didactics, Drs. Lu and Weaver held a great hands-on session. Residents and advanced medical students practiced foreign body removal (fish hooks in the skin and metal shavings in the eye). Ultrasound machines were used to find foreign bodies under the skin. Different techniques were practiced for removing rings off fingers.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and award winners!

The Sandra Schneider EM Leadership Award is presented to the resident who best demonstrates leadership in the field of Emergency Medicine. This award went to Dr. Kaylee Stepanski!

The Linda Spillane EM Teaching Award is presented to the resident who exemplifies excellence in teaching to medical students, off-service residents, and colleagues. This years award went to Dr. Nick Contento!

The Matt Spencer Award for Clinical Excellence is presented to the resident who exemplifies imperturbability and efficiency in the practice of Emergency Medicine. This award went to Dr. Devin Spivey!
