“Hello all,

🚨 1 in 3 adults over 65 will fall each year, help us change that. 🚨

We would like to invite you to participate in a research study focused on detecting and preventing fall risk.: “Patient-Centered Digital Platform for Assessing and Detecting Fall Risk.” The objective of this project is to create a new digital fall risk assessment. This new fall risk assessment will use a motion-capture mobile app. The goal is to be able to quickly and accurately screen for fall risk in any clinical setting. If you are 40-89 years old and have no history of any major spinal/lower leg surgeries that would impact your gait, you may be eligible to participate. This is a one-time research visit to the motion lab that will take approximately an hour to complete. We will also have you complete surveys regarding basic demographics, pain, mood, and physical function.

Please see the attached flyer and information sheet for additional information. After reviewing, if you are interested in participating in this study, please scan the QR code on the flyer or reach out to either the email or phone number listed at the bottom of the flyer.

Thank you!”
-Sincerely,
Orthopaedic Clinical Research

Our Fitness Science Director, Conner Lorenzo, is here to break the myths about Vibration Plates! While they can be beneficial for things like improving balance, they are not the answer for significant fat burning and muscle gain. If those are your primary goals, Fitness Science can guide you on the right path.

It's truly remarkable to see photographs from the 1930s, illustrating the foundational work that has paved the way for modern orthopaedic advancements. These early insights into human movement continue to inspire our current research and patient care strategies. What a journey!

We've been putting advancements in motion for a century! ⌛🏃‍♀️

THEN: Our myodynamics lab in the 1930's, where a patient is hooked up to a device that records electric waves.

NOW: Our motion lab uses advances in this tech to record brain waves while the patient receives a balance test.

💡What began as a simple idea to teach arthroscopic surgery fundamentals has evolved into a national standard. The FAST (Fundamentals of Arthroscopic Surgery Training) Workstation, developed by Dr. Gregg Nicandri and Ryan Koehler, is now utilized by orthopaedic residency programs across the U.S. This innovative platform, which started with everyday materials, provides an accessible way for trainees to practice essential skills outside the operating room. It reflects a commitment to advancing medical education and standardizing surgical training nationwide, ensuring residents receive the highest quality of instruction.
