The last week has brought some unexpected news for Jess and her family, and we wanted to share a little about what has happened so far.
At the recommendation of her doctor at a routine check up, she got her first mammogram, which unfortunately led to further testing. This led to a few days ago when she was informed that biopsies of a breast lump and a lymph node confirmed that she has breast cancer. She is still very early in the process, but we now also know the cancer is triple-negative, and additional genetic testing is underway to help inform the plan of attack.
The results from the initial MRI confirmed the cancer has spread to 3–4 lymph nodes, but no evidence of anything further than that so far. There is still more testing ahead, and we are learning new information as it comes.
For now, Jess is focused on what’s in front of her, gathering information, and making difficult decisions. For the rest of us, it’s about making sure Jess, Dom, and the girls have the space and support they need. Anyone who knows Jess knows how much of herself she gives to the people she loves, and there are a lot of people ready to return some of that love now.
