🌟Success Story🌟
We are incredibly proud of Angela's inspiring journey. Following surgery in January of this year, she faced life-threatening complications, including the loss of use of her legs after a medically induced coma. Angela, understandably scared, however, was determined to return home to her children.
Upon arrival, she couldn't move her legs. Physical Therapy Assistant Anthony noted her initial limitations: "She could not even lift her legs to do knee extensions, nor position herself in her bed or chair." Upon starting therapy at Hickory Creek, Angela admitted to initial skepticism and anxiety. "I had to learn to trust my therapists and know that I was safe," she said. With consistent daily therapy, her trust in the team grew. The progress was gradual, but eventually, "we walked," she said.
When asked about her source of strength, Angela credited her sister, whose nightly visits, whether at Hickory Creek or the hospital, provided unwavering support. The bond of sisterhood proved to be crucial in both moments of doubt and celebration.
We are so pleased to say that today, Angela is home. She is capable of independent transfers and walking over 300 feet with a walker. More importantly, she discovered her inner strength and resilience, which she carries as she continues her life's journey of healing and taking care of her family.
