Why does my lower back hurt even when the MRI is normal?
This is actually very common.
An MRI is designed to detect structural problems such as herniated discs, fractures, or major abnormalities. However, pain does not always come from visible structural damage.
In many cases, the real cause is related to:
• Muscle tightness and imbalance
• Pelvic misalignment
• SI joint dysfunction
• Early inflammation that doesn’t show on imaging
• Increased nerve sensitivity
That’s why it’s possible to have a normal MRI but still experience real pain.
In these situations, treatment should focus on restoring function, balance, and mobility, not just “fixing what shows on imaging.”
Acupuncture may help by reducing muscle tension, improving blood circulation, and supporting the body’s natural pain regulation system.
📍 If your pain continues even with normal test results, it may be time to look deeper than imaging alone.
