One year ago today, we lost our founder, mentor, and friend, Michele Parkins.

While there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t miss her, we are reminded every day that her legacy lives on—in the children who discover confidence through play, the families who feel seen and supported, and the therapists who continue the work she loved so deeply.

Michele believed that relationships change lives and that play is one of the most powerful tools we have to help children grow, heal, and connect.

Today, we invite you to honor her in the simplest and most meaningful way:

💙 Take Time to Play 💙

Spend fifteen uninterrupted minutes with a child today. Build something. Create something. Laugh together. Read a story. Go outside. Follow their lead. Because those moments of connection matter more than we often realize.

Thank you for helping us continue Michele’s vision every single day. ❤️ Her legacy lives on in every relationship, every breakthrough, and every joyful moment of play. 🦋

🌟 Happy Father’s Day! 🌟

Today, we’re celebrating all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, uncles, and father figures who make a lasting difference in the lives of children through their love, presence, and everyday moments of connection.

We see how meaningful these relationships are. Whether you’re building forts, shooting hoops, exploring the outdoors, lounging in ball pits, reading one more bedtime story, or simply sitting with your child during a tough moment, you’re helping nurture the sense of safety, trust, and belonging that supports growth and development.

The little things matter. The laughter, encouragement, patience, and shared experiences help children build confidence, resilience, and strong sensory-emotional foundations that last a lifetime.

Thank you for being an important part of your child’s journey. We celebrate you today and every day. 💙

💚 Happy Mental Heath Provider Day! 💚

Today we celebrate the providers who understand that mental health is not separate from development — it is woven into every relationship, every interaction, and every moment of connection. 💚

At GKP, we believe regulation grows through relationships. A child’s ability to feel safe, connected, organized, and confident is deeply rooted in the sensory and emotional experiences they have with the people around them.

Our model recognizes that movement, hearing, vision, emotional safety, and connection are all part of the same developmental story. When we support the nervous system, strengthen parent-child relationships, and create environments where children feel understood, we create the foundation for growth — not just physically, but emotionally, socially, and cognitively too.

Mental health providers are often the steady presence helping families navigate overwhelm, anxiety, dysregulation, and uncertainty while also celebrating every small victory along the way.

To the providers walking beside children and families every day with compassion, patience, and hope — thank you for the work you do. It matters deeply. 🤍

🌷 Happy Mother’s Day from Great Kids Place! 🌷

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible mothers and caregivers who help children grow, connect, and thrive every single day. 💖

From a sensory-emotional and occupational therapy perspective, the bond between a child and their caregiver lays the foundation for so much of a child’s growth — emotional regulation, confidence, sensory processing, social connection, and the ability to engage with the world around them. ✨

Moms are often the playful protectors, connectors, wondering experimenters, encouraging supporters, the organizers, and safest spaces their children know.

Through everyday moments — comforting hugs, playful interactions, patient support during challenges, and unconditional love — they help shape strong, resilient, and confident kids. 🧠🌸

To all the amazing moms in our practice and community: thank you for the countless ways you nurture, support, advocate for, and love your children. We see the care you pour into every day, and we celebrate you today and always. 💐

Happy Mother’s Day to the hearts behind so many great kids. 💕
